Private to law-enforcement types
I'm Lance-Constable Sally von Humpeding of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch. I was called to the scene of a murder earlier this evening. The victim is unidentified as of yet: a male who appears human, possibly somewhere between 15 and 30 years of age (sorry, it's difficult for me to judge human ages), with pale skin and long red hair. I have a witness of sorts who claims to have seen the victim cut in half by a sword, which seems to agree with the wounds on the body. There are no defensive wounds, which indicates the victim was taken by surprise; the body doesn't appear to have been robbed, so I'm no longer looking at theft for a motive.
Based on the amount ofblbloomess, the body doesn't appear to have been moved, so, jurisdiction or no jurisdiction, I've declared the street behind the shop named Belle's Books and Candles a crime scene and have blocked it off as best I could to keep everything undisturbed. I'll need backup, please, to keep the area secure and interview potential witnesses. And anyone with forensics experience or particular skills in that area, please report to me to co-ordinate examining the body and the scene.
I'm speaking to a potential witness who claims to have seen a grey-skinned creature with a metal pyramid structure for a head carrying a large sword, making the sounds of metal scraping against metal. I'd like to question this person in connection with the crime, so please be on the lookout.
Mr. von Chriek, would you bring your iconograph to the shop called Belle's Books and Candles as soon as possible, please? There's a crime scene I'd like to have iconographed before everyone and their Aunt Mildred comes tramping through it.
And, er, you may want to have a beetroot handy. There's quite a lot of the red sticky stuff.
