Hermione was kicking herself as soon as she put the journal away. Why had she gone and told Ron she was home alone in her parents' house? It reeked of desperation though she hadn't thought of that until after she said it. Okay, so maybe she'd been teasing a little, but what if Ron expected her to take the verbal banter further?
Truth be told though, she preferred being alone with him without her parents. She always felt as if they were being too guarded when they were around. Yes, she wanted them to know Ron but she also wanted to fully be herself around him and now that she was an adult the statute was in full play in her home, even when her parents were out.
Either way she wanted to look her best so she headed to her room and changed into a nice fitting casual outfit. She was still putting the final touches on managing her hair when she heard the knock on the door. She was fairly certain it was Ron, but she was too cautious to just call for him to come on in. Therefore, he had to wait a little while for her to finish getting ready.
Finally, Hermione made it down to the door. "Hello, Ron," she smiled as she opened the door. "Come on in," she instructed stepping aside so he could enter. Why was she suddenly so nervous?
