Ginny was pushing her luck.
The flame-haired girl was perfectly aware that she was taking a risk, but, while she had never been the most law-abiding student that ever strolled the halls of Hogwarts, she certainly didn't feel like paying any respect to the rules of the school now. As far as she was concerned, this school was not the Hogwarts she knew and loved. The castle itself was the same, but it felt different somehow, like a cancerous limb that needed to be amputated. The staircases still moved where they wanted, and the Room of Requirement was flexing itself to cover the people it needed to protect, but the people within its walls - they were the disease.
When Ginny found out that Snape was Headmaster, she expected the worst, so finding out that they were being taught by Death Eaters wasn't too surprising. The stuff they thought was gory, and she flat out refused to do the vast majority of the assignments. She had gotten into trouble, but had yet to serve her detentions. Naturally, Ginny was scared, but she didn't regret anything.
Once, Ginny read that the definition of being brave was knowing something was dangerous and doing it anyway.
In front of her, a long stretch of corridor dawned. Unwittingly, she had vandalized it before. It felt a bit prophetic, a little cheeky that she had once scrawled messages for He-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named, and was now using her wand to paint the opposite.
