Alex quirked an eyebrow at Sophia. “Middle child? She listened to Sophia’s musings about her. “I guess that’s true,” she said with a shrug. “Sometimes…” Alex shrugged again. Sometimes she didn’t but sometimes she did “take shit”, as it were, from people.
“And you didn’t answer me. Do you have any brothers or sisters?”
The spray felt good on her face too, though she decided a skirt really wasn’t the best attire for climbing over wet, slippery rocks. Moving along at a gingerly pace, Alex did her best to follow along.
“I’m coming,” she muttered.
Eventually, Alex reached the rock that Sophia stood upon. Carefully, she stood up. “It is pretty,” she conceded as she looked around.
Alex sighed. In another unguarded moment, she said, “I love the night. It feels so…mysterious… you know?”
