Victor chuckled at her words, the look on his face clearly one of disbelief, but conveying simultaneous amusement. "Oh, but I insist on buying," he said. Her giggling triggered those images again, but the look on her face was not one of happiness, but sadness. She was so beautiful, but sad, missing someone, incomplete, smiles not quite reaching her eyes, looking faraway despite her listening to his music. He would play happy things for her, try to lift her spirits.
"Would you like to stay here, and I'll get some bottles, or do you want to go get something on tap maybe at a place over there," he asked, gesturing toward some shops, bars, and restaurants close to the beach, and not too far at all. It was completely up to her, so captivated was he by her and taken by her presence.
