"Always two at a time, at least so far," he mused. He glanced at her when she said she wanted to meet with the Minister. A public state of emergency was drastic, but he found he couldn't disagree with her. He'd have to try to send Lily and Harry warnings, though. Even if they weren't involved, and weren't vampires, things could get rough for them under such conditions.
Back to the case, Potter.
"Auror Potter, Auror Weasley," the photographer addressed them as he approached. "I'm finished with the scene. Clean-up and removal of the bodies can begin."
James nodded and thanked him, and turned to the poor people. He couldn't wait for any of the others to get around to it, so he waved his wand, first levitating the bodies, then making the rope untie itself and slither through the air into a containment bag where it could be processed in an evidence lab back at the Ministry. Finally, he lowered the two bodies slowly to the ground where two body bags had already been laid out to receive them.
Before closing the bags, though, he went over and examined each of their necks in turn. "Bite marks," he confirmed. "Both of them. More than once, overlapping in vaguely the same area." His voice went hard. "They were kept as snacks and fed on before finally being killed."
