Astoria rolled her eyes and laughed. "What is it with men and arrogance?" She knew he was joking but it amused her anyway. She paused for a moment, unsure of what to say. Finally, she spoke up, "I envy you for that." It was the truth. "I usually like a challenge but it feels as if I should just know." She wasn't sure if that even made sense to him. There were too many factors that were making her second guess herself. There were a lot of things that she was confident about but most of them were inconsequential. This felt important and it was intimidating.
"Oh, the dangers of a committed relationship," she teased. Part of her missed that and the other part really did not. Astoria liked where she was for now. Maybe she was just afraid to commit to the big things. Like jobs. Or men. "Can I still change my mind about dinner?" she asked with a grin when he warned her.
