Teagan gave Thalia a grateful smile. "Thank you, Lia," she said, meaning it. She looked around herself and then shrugged. "If all goes well tonight, then I'd love to come to more. I don't think I'd ever to tell you I've never been to a ball before. I sort of feel like that fairy tale character, Cinderella."
She looked at John. "You have," she said with a nod. "which I appreciate. I'm glad there's still some sane men left. Maybe I have a chance after all." She laughed, shaking her head. "I don't. Not well. I mean, take care of him well when he's sick. I just kind of make a fool of myself trying. But I do talk back. I certainly do that."
