Daphne's eyes snapped to Astoria at the abrupt change of topic. She hadn't expected it. Maybe she should have? She got over her surprise rather quickly, seeing Astoria look at the maypole. "You know, you could actually try it. Tonight, no one could care," she said softly to herself. "In fact, I doubt anyone would remember." She pointed slightly to the maypole, indicating what she was referring to. Daphne herself would never be caught dead doing something like that, but both of them were so differently. She wouldn't judge Astoria if she tried, but she wouldn't be joined. At least not to tonight she wouldn't judge. Normally, she even admitted to herself, she would. "Work is good," she answered. At least Daphne thought it was going well. It was hard, teaching at such a young age with people who remembered being underclassmen when she was actually in school herself. But it was worth it to her. "Any luck finding a job?" It took all Daphne's strength not to remake that Astoria should not stop living off their parents, do something with her life. In a way, even if Astoria just got herself married to some nice pureblood wizard it'd be better than being unemployed with no direction.
Daphne laughed a little. "Well, I'll keep that in mind. If I ever need to... talk about it, I mean," she said. While she had fumbled a bit over her words, her smile and tone showed clearly wasn't uncomfortable. It was just new to her. "Though I'd think the details would be more interesting than something vague. If you don't know the details, how can one give accurate advice or reactions?" she asked after a moment with a wicked smile. She wouldn't be telling Astoria anything, especially not the details, but she certainly found the thought amusing and entertaining alone. And she appreciated the offer in her own way. She laughed and shook her head. "Oh no! No way in hell," she protested with a grin. "They do not have to marry me off. Maybe I'll spin it that I should be allowed to be left the spinster, professor sister who would never be married. Then all their focus can be on you."
