Astoria let the subject drop. Her eyes drifted back to the maypole. At least watching other people was entertaining even if she couldn't participate herself. "How's work?" she asked, suddenly changing the subject. It was a party and they didn't need to dwell on unhappy subjects. She liked annoying Daphne but she didn't actually want to upset her.
She returned her sister's smile and wondered whether it was strange that they didn't usually discuss things like that. Astoria liked to keep a lot of her life private but if she was going to share it with anyone it would probably have been Daphne. The only reason she didn't was because she was too scared of what Daphne would say. She shrugged. "I don't mind as long as you don't go into detail," Astoria said teasingly, though she did mean it. She'd always be there for Daphne. "You know they have to wait until you get married first before they start trying to sell me off." She grinned at the idea. That was perfectly fine with her. It didn't sound like Daphne was planning on settling down anytime soon either.
