Astoria shrugged delicately, as if it were no big deal. "I do have a soft spot for you in my heart." She grinned at her sister. She felt a rush of fondness for her then. As jealous as she was sometimes, Astoria really loved Daphne. She loved her family more than anything in the world and that would never change. "That's too much work. And I still think it's giving them too much credit." Astoria didn't really care either way. It was a nice event, sure, but there was something so jarring about the contrast between the indoor and outdoor spaces.
She watched for Daphne's reaction, hoping she wouldn't get reprimanded. Astoria was relieved when she laughed instead. She was surprised by the reaction and even more surprised by the words that came out of Daphne's mouth. "No, not quite. Maybe I should," she replied. Perhaps her current date would, if she asked. Astoria laughed at the thought.
