Daphne laughed as she looked at Astoria. "Oh thank you," she said with teasing. "I'm glad to know my sister won't stand back and watch me die. I'm sure our parents would be proud." Sometimes these types of things coming from Daphne would be saturated with sarcasm and malice, but tonight, there was more of a hint of levity and teasing in her tone than anything. No matter what she thought of everyone or what they were doing, the atmosphere was contagious. She couldn't help but loosen up some. She shrugged. "Oh, who knows? I guess we'll never now. Unless I can find someone who organized it and ask." But it even sounded like too much needless work to Daphne. Getting the answer wouldn't prove anything but sedate a random question that came to her mind.
Daphne's eyes widened at her sister's comment for a moment. She wasn't sure how to take it at first. After a moment, she laughed. "Astoria, don't tell me you've found a nice boy to call you master," she replied, barely believing Astoria had said that. In a way, it impressed her. Daphne herself didn't have the nerve to say those types of things unless she was angry enough to stop paying attention to what she said. Then words would just fly from her mouth.
