Astoria stared in amusement at the people dancing around the maypole. It looked like fun. A part of her was tempted to join in but she knew was wasn't nearly drunk enough for something like that. There were too many people and too many familiar faces for her to completely let go like she wanted to. She'd felt more comfortable indoors, where she knew the role she needed to play by heart. The idea of dropping those pretenses just because she had stepped outdoors was not something she could easily come to terms with.
Still, she couldn't help but laugh at some of the very drunk people tripping over their feet. She brought her champagne flute to her lips, sipping it slowly and savoring the flavor. Astoria was beginning to feel a pleasant buzz. She was trying to be careful about how much she drank but a little more alcohol couldn't hurt.
