Summary: Malachi didn't tell anyone he was going to put in papers to join the Auror in Training program and take the test that went with it. Now he's trying to get unnoticed, which might happen and might not. At least he know his privacy with applying for the program wasn't going to be a problem.
Status: Incomplete
Malachi left uncomfortable. It was an acute feeling that he was doing something almost wrong. He wasn't doing anything wrong, though. He was well within his rights and a sane mind as he did this. Anyone could apply to the Auror training program and all of them had the same screenings. But he hadn't told anyone he was planning this. No one. He was now a member of the Turquoise faction of the Class of the Chrysanthemum that was illegal and he was hoping to train to be an Auror. Of course, this could work in the faction's benefit, but make an already dangerous job more dangerous if he was caught. He didn't care though. He wanted to help. And the Auror had so many benefits that other respectable jobs didn't have.
Being an Auror would allow him to provide for his family, both with pay and benefits for health. He could actually take care of them rather than just hoping that when it came around he could do what he could and hope for the best outcome. Of course, this meant that he'd work with Lavender in a way wouldn't it:? Maybe that's part of the reason that he hadn't told her. She was the Department Head Weasley's secretary. He had purposely kept out of the actual department as much as he could, so she didn't spot him, just dealing with the receptionist of the department at the front. If he got in for the next stage of interviews, he was sure he'd have to explain it away to Lavender and didn't know how. He didn't see the point of telling her until he was actually accepted into the program.
Sighing, he ran his hand through his hair. He hated secrets, but he was keeping secrets from everyone - his wife, his best friends, the faction since he couldn't very well tell them of this until he was in. The more he was at this, the more he remembered the fact he had to keep his mouth shut in every turn. The last time he hadn't had been a disaster and he didn't want a repeat of that. No, that still plagued him so many years later - college, that he never finished, a life that he had lost before he really got to live and enjoy it. It was disheartening to even recall. Secrets crushed him, but he'd learn the less to keep them when necessary. Sometimes secrets were a way to protect people you love as well as yourself.
As he stepped into the lift, he was completely lost in his thoughts.
