The attempted assassination of Gotham's favoured son had sent a pang of fear through Talia's heart when she heard the news over the radio after another long day at the office. Despite Bruce's obvious disdain for her affection, she wasn't heartless, and concern gripped her, made all the more bitter by the realisation that she couldn't just walk in and find out how he was doing.
She managed to keep her distance until the Tuesday after the attempt on his life, and though she never went anywhere near the hospital, she was aware he wouldn't even approve of what she was doing. After lunch with Richard Vandan, before returning to the office, she purchased flowers and organised for delivery to Gotham General, under an alias credit card.
People in Gotham talked. A lot. None of it good.
When they arrived in Bruce's room, the simple bunch of white tulips were accompanied by a card, unsigned. Recover well. |
