I don't know the inner workings of his mind, or what happens in private or in your cabin, but I have... a lot of opinions on Coppertale male prefects. Or maybe just two of them. But I've learned a lot about how to handle volatile situations. And I think honestly Rafael and I have very similar thought processes, I've just learned new methods for when my first attempt doesn't work.

And what he does is try to cram a square peg in a round hole.

Ordering you around doesn't make you stop doing the thing he doesn't like, so instead he tries... doing it harder. If it doesn't work the first time, it's not his fault it didn't work, it should work the next time, or the next time, or the next time because his methods are flawless.

I'm not saying you're blameless, because obviously when people yell at you the preferred response is not to be even more of a dick and you need two people to escalate a situation, but I'm saying Rafael is a problematic prefect and (despite my opinions to the contrary this past summer), it's a damn good thing he's not Head Boy.

I've found distracting you to be helpful. Too bad Rafael missed his chance to tempt you with a hickey if you stopped being a little shit.

I also use humor a lot to soften the blow when I can tell someone's first instinct is to spit back whatever I just barked at them. Sighing, shrugging, rolling my eyes is helpful for someone who wants a big reaction, and then they (sometimes you) get bored and move on.

Or, in the long run, maybe helping you to find a new communication technique/defense mechanism. If your current one is a problem, and it's been your only method for seventeen years, you need help figuring out what else is out there. Like how I found sarcasm after finding out I couldn't set Sy's bed on fire with him in it anymore.

	I didn't have any matches or a lighter or anything so I stuck a magazine in a candle. It burned way faster than I expected. I don't even remember why I did it. Maybe his hair looked better than mine that day, I don't know. (Reply to this) (Parent)
