[Letter sent to Tabitha Ogletree via Tolopo, Kele's owl]
Hi, Tabitha. I know you don't know me very well at all, but my cousin asked me to facilitate the Ho'oponopono between the two of you. I thought it might be smart to talk to you about what that ritual means, and how important it is in our culture for it to happen. For An to have asked you if you would do this with her means that she is deeply serious about it and serious about her need for it. It's usually only done between family members or extended family. Hala- negative energy- can affect us and our environment to the point of causing illness within us. It is custom to preform this ritual as a way of cleansing our mistakes, releasing them from around us and becoming whole again. We start with a spell that protects the area and brings the attention of the Gods, then the problem between the two parties is spoken outloud in a statement form. The spell activates at that moment and all the problems are worked through, leaving nothing unsaid. There will be moments when a silence spell activates and the participants are to use that time to reflect on the knotted portions of the emotions and injuries. We untie those knots, acknowledge them on all sides. The ritual will only end when confessions are made about the truth in your heart, repentance is asked for and forgiveness is achieved. Everyone releases- kala- each other, cuts off the past- 'oki and a lei wis exchanged closing the ritual space and Pani, a feast, is served. The end of the ritual is very intense and exhausting. I was trained through my Grandmother when I was young, but I've never performed it, so at the end I might pass out. Don't worry though. It can't kill me. I know the decision is yours as to if you want to go through with the ritual, but it very important considering the poison that is in the environment. And, so you know, I wasn't asked t convince you. I decided that if you are considering doing this for An, then you should be aware of what it entails and what it means to us. Feel free to ask me more questions. I dont mind. Tolopo will gladly bring a message back or you can send me a message on the journals. - Kelekolio Tupuola PS. Tolopo can be slow, so you might have to pick him up and force him to fly away. He won't bite. |
