MISTLETOE: DAY 2

Gooseberry's not free of this ridiculous kissing ~~game~~ plague yet.

Starting Tuesday morning, the mistletoe has largely been scared out of the lodge by Mr. Hightower, and has moved outside. Students wake up, only to find their way to breakfast and class blocked by yet more of the winding plant.

Just like yesterday, anyone who is unlucky enough to walk underneath a sprig of it is trapped in place with their feet rooted to the ground. This is inconvenient enough, but the only way to free a trapped student is with a kiss.

HOW THIS WORKS

Mistletoe is growing like vines throughout campus, hanging from branches and lamp posts, apparently attempting to position itself to "trap" students.

It has not moved inside cabins, but may be located on their exterior.

Classes are not cancelled, but under the circumstances, students are forgiven for tardiness.

If your character walks under a sprig of mistletoe, their feet are rooted to the spot.

The only thing that will free them is a kiss. Cheek kisses or a kiss to the back of the hand are sufficient. So is a kiss on the lips, but chances are, most people will opt for something more chaste.

Mr. Hightower is busy all day, and cancels Herbology until he can get a handle on this. The mistletoe is proving to be highly resistant to being cut, hexed, set on fire, or exposed to magical weed killer. (Also, please don't set things on fire just in general???)

Post your character to a location below if they got stuck. If you're waiting for someone in particular, indicate who's going to free your character in the subject line. Otherwise, comments are considered open for a random rescuer.

» North: Azurcest: Enough trees to be dangerous, especially on the approach.

» East: Ribbonfin: Is nowhere safe???

» South: Ebonhide: Of all the houses, heavily wooded Ebonhide is hit the worst.

» West: Coppertale: The safest campground. Just avoid the lamp posts and be careful of awnings.

	Iliya has not particular paid attention to the mistletoe, though he somehow managed to avoid it yesterday. And he doesn't notice today. Until he gets stuck. Had she not heard the massive shouting, Avery probably wouldn't have noticed anything was wrong. Honestly, even with the shouting she might have been only mildly curious. However, given the situation and the particular accent on the voice she heard? She was definitely more interested than she might have been otherwise.

Walking up to the trapped Iliya, recently her tent partner on the OE trip, Avery couldn't help but let a wide smile spread across her lips as she walked up. "Need some help getting unstuck, Iliya?" She asked, partially waiting for permission to kiss him.

	Iliya gave her a grin in response, relaxing instantly. He was glad it Avery who had come to his rescue. Not that he would have been picky, given his situation, but it was nice that it was her. His grin did not go unnoticed and Avery felt a blush rise to her cheeks. They had bonded pretty well during the trip and she had to admit, she was glad it was him getting caught.

"I know! I have been caught a few times." She said, stepping up and giving the just barely slightly shorter-than-her Iliya a kiss to his cheek. It was... honestly a little softer and more tender than was exactly necessary and Avery stepped back from it looking sheepish.

"All better? I hope I didn't you know, rescue you if you wanted someone else to."

	This was not at all what she expected from any of this. Avery could feel her little heart beat up faster and she was grinning like an idiot but oh my god Iliya may actually kind of like her! 	It was warm because she was flushing so much. Avery was surprised both by her own feelings and words, as well as his feelings and words. This situation was incredibly new. Well, sort of. It wasn't influenced by Amortentia, though. "Um, yes. Yes you can." She said, holding her hand out so he could take it. "And then... walk me to class? Is that a thing?" They actually shared a fair amount of classes. The idea that he wanted to walk her to all of them made her stomach flutter. "Okay. I like that idea." She agreed, grinning again but still blushing. She briefly wondered if hand-holding was too forward already... then remembered they had spooned the other night with Chris in a tent and that nervousness quickly dissipated.

"So this might sound silly but, um, do you want to... hang out sometime? Get to... know each other more, I guess?"

"Oh, good. I want that too." She replied, holding his hand softly as they headed towards class. She honestly couldn't remember which one that was right now.

The idea of dating still struck fear into her. How soon was too soon to tell someone your secrets? Was it relevant, important? She paled a little. "I'm new to all this, too. I've - I don't know. Avoided it I guess?"

They could do this all day instead of go to classes. The thought was surprising, given how much Avery liked following rules.

Iliya did not seem bothered by the fact that she had avoided dating and didn't seem to be bothered by wanting to date that much, either. She was a bit surprised, but also quite relieved. "How about... we just take it really slow. You don't make me uncomfortable. I'm just... scared."

	Iliya was glad he had not made Avery uncomfortable. "I like that. We can focus on getting to know each other and just...having fun and enjoying being near each other." That seemed, to Iliya, the best part about dating, anyway, though it certainly wasn't anything exclusive to dating. (Reply to this) (Parent)
