MISTLETOE: DAY 2

Gooseberry's not free of this ridiculous kissing ~~game~~ plague yet.

Starting Tuesday morning, the mistletoe has largely been scared out of the lodge by Mr. Hightower, and has moved outside. Students wake up, only to find their way to breakfast and class blocked by yet more of the winding plant.

Just like yesterday, anyone who is unlucky enough to walk underneath a sprig of it is trapped in place with their feet rooted to the ground. This is inconvenient enough, but the only way to free a trapped student is with a kiss.

HOW THIS WORKS

Mistletoe is growing like vines throughout campus, hanging from branches and lamp posts, apparently attempting to position itself to "trap" students.

It has not moved inside cabins, but may be located on their exterior.

Classes are not cancelled, but under the circumstances, students are forgiven for tardiness.

If your character walks under a sprig of mistletoe, their feet are rooted to the spot.

The only thing that will free them is a kiss. Cheek kisses or a kiss to the back of the hand are sufficient. So is a kiss on the lips, but chances are, most people will opt for something more chaste.

Mr. Hightower is busy all day, and cancels Herbology until he can get a handle on this. The mistletoe is proving to be highly resistant to being cut, hexed, set on fire, or exposed to magical weed killer. (Also, please don't set things on fire just in general???)

Post your character to a location below if they got stuck. If you're waiting for someone in particular, indicate who's going to free your character in the subject line. Otherwise, comments are considered open for a random rescuer.

» North: Azurcest: Enough trees to be dangerous, especially on the approach.

» South: Ebonhide: Of all the houses, heavily wooded Ebonhide is hit the worst.

» West: Coppertale: The safest campground. Just avoid the lamp posts and be careful of awnings.

Cecil jumps, visibly startled by the unexpected voice from a very unexpected place. His tilts his head back, dark eyes scanning the branches for a brief moment before settling on Hazel. He can't help but laugh, both relieved and genuinely perplexed, though he really shouldn't be; during Outdoor Exploration, the girl seems to spend as much time in the trees as the squirrels do. That nickname, the newest in a seemingly never-ending commentary about his considerable height, shouldn't surprise him either. But he still blushes the tiniest bit. She never calls Levi or Cameron anything like that, just him, and he's never been able to determine why that is.

"Believe it or not, I have been trying," he insists, good-natured but sheepish, and shakes his head, "But that stuff seems to be everywhere now."

Hazel lets out a chirping laugh at Cecil's surprise, starting to shimmy down from the tree as he speaks. For a brief moment she had considered trying to climb over to the tree he was under and give him a smooch Spider-man style but... that seems like way too much hassle. She dusts herself off a little, glancing up to make sure there's definitely no mistletoe between her a Cecil before heading over to the boy.

"I bet you have... it really is freaking everywhere now. That's why I was in the tree - scouting out ahead. Just barely missed the sucker you're under right now." She grins cheekily at him, rocking back on her heels for a moment. "I'm guessing someone will be needing a kiss, then?"

"That's smart," Cecil acknowledges after a moment of consideration, then laughs a little and shrugs his broad shoulders, "If you're the tree climbing type." He isn't, though it's less a matter a size and more a matter of his crippling fear of heights. Oh well. He watches the girl as she approaches, pausing to rock on her heels and give him a mild teasing that rolls off of him like water off a duck's back. "If someone doesn't mind, yes, I'd really appreciate that."

"I have moments of brilliance every once in a while. I know you won't climb trees but I feel like you should legit be tall enough on your own," Hazel teases. Really, she likes the older boy... hence the harassment. He takes such good care of her in Outdoor Exploration that she has to return the favor somehow.

Cecil's response to her question has her curtly nodding, as if he's given her a solemn mission. "I got you, McLargeHuge."

After this she takes a small step back and looks him up and down, sizing him up. Why does is face have to be so far away?? There's a moment of consideration before she steps forward, goes up on her tiptoes, and loops her arms around his neck to pull him in for a kiss on the cheek.

"Thanks, Hazel," Cecil begins and smiles warmly at the little blonde Coppertale. He'd been prepared to lean down for her, but doesn't protest when she takes matters into her own hands, hooking her hands up around the back of his neck and pulling him forward until he's within her reach. He does laugh sheepishly, though. "Sorry. I know. I really should be carrying a step stool."

Once she's kissed his cheek, he straightens again, trusting that she'll let go.
