MISTLETOE: DAY 2

MISTLETOE: DAY 2

Gooseberry's not free of this ridiculous kissing game plague yet.

Starting Tuesday morning, the mistletoe has largely been scared out of the lodge by Mr. Hightower, and has moved outside. Students wake up, only to find their way to breakfast and class blocked by yet more of the winding plant.

Just like yesterday, anyone who is unlucky enough to walk underneath a sprig of it is trapped in place with their feet rooted to the ground. This is inconvenient enough, but the only way to free a trapped student is with a kiss.

HOW THIS WORKS
  1. Mistletoe is growing like vines throughout campus, hanging from branches and lamp posts, apparently attempting to position itself to "trap" students.

  2. It has not moved inside cabins, but may be located on their exterior.

  3. Classes are not cancelled, but under the circumstances, students are forgiven for tardiness.

  4. If your character walks under a sprig of mistletoe, their feet are rooted to the spot.

  5. The only thing that will free them is a kiss. Cheek kisses or a kiss to the back of the hand are sufficient. So is a kiss on the lips, but chances are, most people will opt for something more chaste.

  6. Mr. Hightower is busy all day, and cancels Herbology until he can get a handle on this. The mistletoe is proving to be highly resistant to being cut, hexed, set on fire, or exposed to magical weed killer. (Also, please don't set things on fire just in general???)

  7. Post your character to a location below if they got stuck. If you're waiting for someone in particular, indicate who's going to free your character in the subject line. Otherwise, comments are considered open for a random rescuer.

» Trails: The mistletoe makes use of lamp posts and overhanging branches.

» Gardens: A veritable warzone of kissing plants.

» North: Azurcest: Enough trees to be dangerous, especially on the approach.

» East: Ribbonfin: Is nowhere safe???

» South: Ebonhide: Of all the houses, heavily wooded Ebonhide is hit the worst.

» West: Coppertale: The safest campground. Just avoid the lamp posts and be careful of awnings.

» OOC - Questions, comments, concerns!

Special shout-out to Josie for giving us the idea for the mistletoe epidemic. ♥

Flipping his sunglasses on top of his head, Ras continued to smirk at this scene in front of him. "I wasn't going to wrap your face in it. I don't think killing you would really work well to keeping you alive." Ras did have a real smile once he heard she had broken so many hearts. Luckily Ras had been easily kept away from the rash of attacks. Maybe the mistletoe just knew how awesome he was and left him alone.

"As much as I am tempted to keep you in leafy chains, I don't want to be too cruel." Ras leaned in to give her a downright proper rescue kiss. Whispering into her ear after he was done. "I think we should stick together, never know when one of us might be trapped again today."

Vee considered this, as if it were something that could really happen. "Good point. It would kind of defeat your whole point. And then you'd have lost your mermaid," she mused with an answering smirk. She didn't like thinking about the mistletoe without Ras. She had broken many a heart and turned down kisses, but it was worth it now that she was about to get the only one she wanted.

There was no time to reply before he was sweeping her into his arms for a real kiss, and she wrapped her arms around him in turn as she returned it with equal fervor. When they pulled apart her cheeks were flushed as she smiled at Ras's words. "If it means I can have more of those, I'll stick with you as long as you want," she replied with a smile.

"Well I would hope that next time you get wrapped up in a net instead of mistletoe that can't get unraveled by any normal means." Plus he was a little upset that he couldn't beat up the mistletoe or at least in Ras's way have a nice conversation with it to have the plant just stop being a dick. "Good thing I was clearly stalking you, heartbreaker." He wasn't, maybe. Ras wasn't going to admit to anything.

"Stick with me, love. We can't let anyone else sneak in any kisses. How horrible would that be?" Ras mimed a horrible look of heartbreak, his hand over his chest as he laughed. "I've got nothing but time and if anyone asks why we weren't in class or anything else, we simply have to state mistletoe."

"I would say that I don't mind kisses for freedom, but it has been a little difficult today. Thank goodness you don't have to get a kiss on the lips every time or else I'd have been waiting a long time," she mused. Vee was a friendly and affectionate person, so kisses on the hand or cheek weren't huge violations. Though still a bit awkward when she just wanted to kiss Ras lately. "It's a good thing you came along when you did," she added in agreement to his words. "Convenient even."

Winking, she let him navigate, figuring his good luck in avoiding the plant could only come in handy. "The worst. How dare they," she confirmed with a sage nod, though couldn't hold he act and giggled despite herself. The idea of missing class would've normally caused her to stumble, but she kept it together. She was good at studying. Going to class didn't always have to take priority.
