Today is Katya's birthday, so Casper catches her after breakfast to deliver a present...and to ask her a question. The present is small but neatly wrapped in Azurcrest blue paper and tied with a ribbon that looks more like the work of one of the Ebonhide crafting gurus than that of Casper Kim. Inside, she'll find a bracelet made up of several discs featuring galaxies and nebulas that ~magically~ seem to shift and swirl beneath the glass. There is also a small jar of candy stars for that insatiable sweet tooth.

Whether she chooses to open the gift now or later doesn't matter to Casper, but before the pair parts ways, he tells her that he needs to ask her something. He pulls in a breath (does he seem nervous?) and does: does Katya want to go to the formal with him? Or, if she doesn't want to go, does she want to do something with him that night instead?

Katya didn't even know what to say she was so stunned by Casper's gift once open cause of course she's going to open it now. "It's beautiful!" She finally gets out after a few moments of trying to sort things out. Katya barely noticed the slight nervousness of Casper but leans over kissing him before speaking again. "Of course I will! If you understand that this bracelet isn't coming off. Ever. I'm so wearing it until the end of time. I was a little worried you'd never ask."

That pause is long enough for Casper to being doubting his choice...but when Katya finally finds her voice and then her lips find his, that apprehension immediately fades. Apparently, he's not as bad at this as he'd thought he might be or she cares about him enough to act like he's not. Either way. And she's agreed to go with him. Slowly, he smiles. "I understand; I can live with that." Then his expression evened again and he admits wryly, "That makes two of us. You know I'm...shit at this stuff. Sorry I kept you waiting, Katya."

"Oh please, even if you didn't ask I would have come and found you and spent the time with you party or not." So what if she had already gotten the dress sent to her from home. Katya figured she could wear it whenever. "We both aren't the best at this and it's working just fine." It wasn't like she was going to try and pull Casper out of his comfort zone fully, just little steps at a time. It worked just fine for her, Katya was just as terrified of all of this as he seemed to be. "I don't even know really what to say, thank you. You are so good to me."

These reassurances make Casper smile again and, even though it's brief, it's genuine. He moves to touch Katya's cheek with one calloused hand and then kisses her again, letting his lips linger against hers a little longer this time despite his typical aversion to public displays of affection. When he draws back, he says, "...you're welcome. But you deserve better. So just know I'm working on it." He thinks momentarily of his conversation with Asher and wants to say more...but he can't. And, for now, this seems like enough anyway. He draws back his hand and tucks a bit of his dark hair behind one ear before glancing away from her briefly and then back again. "Should we get to class?" They've got History of Magic this morning, which means they can walk together. If Katya wants to.

Katya smiled, Casper was starting to open up a little bit, loosen up a tad bit more around her and that made her happy. The idea that he wanted to do better was even better. "I don't deserve anything more than you are willing to give. Trust me, I'm pretty happy and eventually we will one day actually be good at all of this." Katya had faith at least. "You're doing fantastic." Another one of her super bright smiles when he suggested they walk together. "If we must get to class, I assume we should walk together."
