MISTLETOE: DAY 1

It's chaos at Gooseberry Alternative High School. Again.

Marilyn Fairchild and Penelope Vargas are collaborating on making a cheeky magically altered version of mistletoe, which is in the Charms classroom for safe keeping. The intent is for use in party games, but the current version is way too enthusiastic. All’s going well until a white crow flies in through an open window. Before Marilyn or Penelope can do anything about it, the beautiful bird has snatched their specimen in its beak and is flying back out the window. That’s weeks of work!!!

By the end of the day, mistletoe has sprouted all over the Lodge. Anyone who is unlucky enough to walk underneath a sprig of it is trapped in place with their feet rooted to the ground. This is inconvenient enough, but the only way to free a trapped student is with a kiss.

HOW THIS WORKS

Mistletoe is growing like vines throughout the lodge, hanging from the ceiling, apparently attempting to position itself to "trap" students.

By noon, it's widespread enough that it's become a serious inconvenience. Classes are not cancelled, but under the circumstances, students are forgiven for tardiness.

If your character walks under a sprig of mistletoe, their feet are rooted to the spot.

The only thing that will free them is a kiss. Cheek kisses or a kiss to the back of the hand are sufficient. So is a kiss on the lips, but chances are, most people will opt for something more chaste.

Mr. Hightower is busy all day, and cancels Herbology until he can get a handle on this. The mistletoe is proving to be highly resistant to being cut, hexed, set on fire, or exposed to magical weed killer. (Also, please don't set things on fire in the lodge???)

The lodge is not as large as Hogwarts castle, but it's still spacious with plenty of corridors to get lost in if you want to get your character stranded.

Post your character to a location below if they got stuck. If you're waiting for someone in particular, indicate who's going to free your character in the subject line. Otherwise, comments are considered open for a random rescuer.

» Atrium: The busy sitting area of the Lodge. There's lots of mistletoe, but just as many people to save you.

» Cafeteria: Bustling at mealtimes, quiet for the rest of the day.

» First Floor Halls & Balconies: Winding corridors with windows that look out into the woods.

» Second Floor Halls & Balconies: Long hallways, some of which overlook the atrium and the students below.

» Third Floor Halls & Balconies: These balconies have a stunning view of the lake and surrounding forests. They are also the least populated.

» Classrooms: Some are in use, some are empty.

» Library: Is nowhere sacred?! Ms. Petrichor is incensed at the mistletoe in her library. Every time she finds a new sprig, she marks the floor with an angry X.

Chris sighs. "You're a fucking menace." But he can't even really fault Levi, because he's just spent the whole damn day discovering something new about himself too. "So you get off on being a damsel in distress, or being on display?" Because sure, let's have a discussion about Levi's newfound kink. "Because right now, I'm getting off on my mouth literally freeing people."

"Both? All of it?" He taps his chin thoughtfully. Levi hardly knows shame, and he's definitely not ashamed about discussing this, and especially not with Chris. Chris gets him. "I like the surrendering of power. But isn't the reverse of that part of the appeal for you? Your kisses have the power to free people? Or to keep people pinned, if you choose. You can draw it out as you like. It's kinda hot, right?"

Chris has to drop his disapproval act because it takes too much energy to keep it up. Because he does get Levi. He's always gotten Levi, that's why they meshed so well. They are both completely shameless, especially with this type of conversation.

He actually smiles. "It's kinda hot," he agrees, not even remotely reluctant, and it is the reverse part that appeals to him. He isn't as selfless as all these prefects, running around to save people, giving their hand kisses. He likes to give the recipient a choice, though. Like kissing roulette.

"I don't even give a shit who the fuck I kiss at this point. I just made out with Vargas - don't give a shit, it was still hot." Which is a hell of a lot easier to admit right now, while he's discussing kinks with Levi than it usually would be.

Chris's instinct is to agree that she is hot as hell rather than question how the fuck Levi would even know that and also what the fuck was he even doing thinking that. "Dude, I'm trying to get all your roommates too. Diego was easy, he's practically a free space on the bingo card. He's getting stuck like every five minutes. Jesse's not fucking participating at all."

You know he's a sucker for helping people." Yes, Chris, kiss Levi's boyfriend. That's a totally normal suggestion.

Chris hadn't considered throwing himself into traps just to check off his bingo list. But for Cecil...yeah that'll probably work, even if Cecil is fully aware of what he's doing, it'll still work. The real question is - does he really wanna take advice from Levi about how to coerce his own boyfriend into kissing him.

Chris can ask himself that question but he knows damn well he's gonna do it anyway. "What's your next thematic list? And how many times did you throw yourself under a mistletoe to get kissed by your own boyfriend?"
