More Advice Column Shenanigans

Below are the questions I received, as promised (a little late). I was impressed at the lack of troll comments… so I’m giving you the gift of question #1. It’s not going to be published except in this form – feel free to answer publicly.

I've set up separate sections to respond for each question to keep the replies warded to me so I can select what should be published. Remember that responses will, ultimately, NOT be anonymous. I was planning on having a smaller column but I was also anticipating less serious questions so – let’s just go with everything I received.

On a side note... I hope everyone is recovering alright from yesterday.

TELL SOMEONE YOU'RE BEING BULLIED. A friend, a teacher, your mom, whoever. Popular culture gives us this idea that there are two types of bullies: the ones you can defeat by being plucky and fighting back, or the ones who are secretly nice and end up being your BFF after you unexpectedly bond. But this is real life, and if you're in a situation where you're being bullied then speaking up and getting help is the only way things are going to get better. Asking for help is not a sign of weakness. Bullies are cowards who get off on making other people feel small, and you can't let them win.

The first step is the hardest. Be brave. ♥
