I'm not trying to question authority or anything, but I don't really understand what all the fuss is about the sledding. I mean, maybe I just don't understand something because I'm muggleborn, but quidditch seems just as dangerous? I mean, you're way up high on brooms jostling each other, and there are two iron balls enchanted to attack you and try to knock you off your broom. People get hurt plenty at that, right? And there were broken bones and concussions from hockey the other day, too.

And I get that there was underage drinking, and people were hurt and there was no healer on hand, but if people do this every year anyway, why don't they just turn it into a school sanctioned event? Staff being there would keep people from drinking, and Mufferaw could be there to fix any injuries.

Or is it just that we're only allowed to endanger ourselves for sports? You're allowed to get a concussion as long as it's something you can win at?

I accept the apology. Thank you.

I work very hard to make sure I am understood. If I were anything less, you know they would tear me apart. But I know sometimes I still sound stilted. Too formal. Awkward. I was offended because she was the one who misunderstood the general, plural "you" I was using, but my weakness in English was blamed. But I appreciate your apology. I do.

I meant exactly what I said, though. I meant the tone I took. I was not going to try and soften what I wanted to say, but I was not being cruel. Still, I will not argue with her anymore. I can't.

This ain't a justification, it's just an attempt at an explanation.

You're the most eloquent person I know, Raf, and I've met the President. You're so confident and poised and always, always right. I guess it felt easy to lean on you in attempt to make Chloe feel better. I didn't wanna say "Oh, Raf's just stern" or "He didn't mean it that way," because I don't think you were bein cruel and I think what you said was perfectly right. In the moment, I was trying for something that felt innocuous and logical, but looking back I realize was hurtful and unfair to you.

Again, I'm sorry.

Are you alright? I don't mean to be presumptuous, but all this prefecting seems to be hitting a little closer to home than usual.
