PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

Ms. Lilywhite has been teaching a section on casting Patronuses. Every year, she allows non-DADA students to attend extra study sessions she holds after dinner, because she believes a well-formed Patronus is an important life skill. It’s… not, probably, but who’s going to argue with her?

HOW THIS WORKS

If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.

Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

Fill out this form if your character takes Occlumency or attends the extra study sessions:
Name:
Year: Sophomore/Junior/Senior
Patronus Form: It can change from the last time we asked you, but this will be your official “canon” answer.
Why?: What does this animal mean, or why is it significant to them?
Their happy memory: What memory finally worked for them?
Their attempt: Any other notes on how it went for them?
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: This contributes to the likelihood of their success.

LEVI KRAMER

Name: Levi Kramer
Year: Senior
Patronus Form: Black Labrador Retriever (Not that you can tell what color it is since they're white...)
Why?: IT'S A WATER DOG. WHO LOVES SWIMMING AND WHO LOVES DOGS? LEVI DOES!! (It would've been his Animagus form if he was actually smart enough to get into that class.)

Gonna copy and paste ~symbolism~ because I am too tired to form my own unique thoughts.

"Dog is a symbol for companion and guardian. In a positive light they are a symbol of loyal, faithful, honesty and willing to fight injustice."

From this page on Labrador Retriever totems:

"You will have a reputation for being the one of the most accepting and loving of persons. You practice “Unconditional Acceptance” at all times and never pass judgement on others for their differences or choices in life. You understand the concept “There by the grace of God go I”. You know how to set your boundaries and yet are compassionately generous with your love, bounty, and wisdom. People often turn to you for advice simply because they know that they will not be judged for their indiscretions.

You also have a tendency to rescue people or attempt to rescue those that do not wish to be rescued. You have to find a balance within yourself because you cannot fix everything."

Their happy memory: The real question is which one? Levi's actually not too bent out of shape over the Diego Thing since airing his own thoughts and feelings immediately after the potion fiasco was over.

His happy memory that comes to mind is also a recent memory: him and Cecil playing fetch with Goosey on the docks, talking about dogs, specifically Levi's dog, and making plans to visit Levi's family over the holiday break. Cecil pressing a kiss to the back of his hand.

Then, there are false memories implanted within that memory; memories that have yet to happen: Cecil coming to his home and meeting his dog, who eagerly runs up to greet them after such a long break. His mother throwing her arms around the both of them. His father is there, too! Holding a tiny dog with a bow around its neck!! Headmistress Bloom says Levi can take this dog back with him because it's so small and manageable and doesn't shit in a box and stink up the room!!! This is the greatest day ever!!! Thanks, Dad!! Thanks, Mrs. Bloom!!

Their attempt: Levi has mental fortitude and a lot of happy memories to go off of, but he's notoriously underachieving and unpracticed in DADA-related spellwork. His only spell-related class is Charms and he takes it because charms add a ton of convenience to his life and allows him to be even lazier than he already is. Also, Mr. CB is cute as hell.
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: NO, THOSE CLASSES REQUIRE EFFORT.

Cecil's so impressed, Levi! ...and sort of wishes you'd taken Animagus Studies.

Just like with the scavenger hunt, Levi's a little dumbfounded by his success but that doesn't keep him from bragging. "I'M AN AUROR~"

I think everybody's a little dumbfounded by his success this time but literally no one is surprised by the form of his patronus. But I mean Chris tells him good job
