PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

Ms. Lilywhite has been teaching a section on casting Patronuses. Every year, she allows non-DADA students to attend extra study sessions she holds after dinner, because she believes a well-formed Patronus is an important life skill. It’s… not, probably, but who’s going to argue with her?

HOW THIS WORKS

If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.

Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

Fill out this form if your character takes Occlumency or attends the extra study sessions:
Name:
Year: Sophomore/Junior/Senior
Patronus Form: It can change from the last time we asked you, but this will be your official “canon” answer.
Why?: What does this animal mean, or why is it significant to them?
Their happy memory: What memory finally worked for them?
Their attempt: Any other notes on how it went for them?
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: This contributes to the likelihood of their success.

Name: Susana Velasquez
Year: Sophomore
Patronus Form: Scorpion (WE DON'T NEED A VISUAL HERE OK)
Why?: As depressed as she'll be that her patronus is something so terrifying and gross, it's actually pretty appropriate. Scorpions are associated with strength, destruction, and self-protection. These people tend to have an aggressive shell, and are often aloof and/or intimidating. The defenses, however, protect a soft emotional core. They can wield a lot of power, but it's often reserved in its use. They will not hesitate to retaliate if crossed.
Their happy memory: The first time she was ever on a broom. Then the first time she played Quidditch. Mostly all blends to the feel of wind through her hair, how the broom responds to her commands, and the elation from scoring or blocking a goal.
Their attempt: She's only a sophomore, but a decent student. She isn't in DADA, but is fairly interested in it, so she would work hard to learn whatever she can.
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: Nope

Susana fails to cast a full bodied patronus.
