PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

Ms. Lilywhite has been teaching a section on casting Patronuses. Every year, she allows non-DADA students to attend extra study sessions she holds after dinner, because she believes a well-formed Patronus is an important life skill. It’s… not, probably, but who’s going to argue with her?

HOW THIS WORKS

If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.

Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

Fill out this form if your character takes Occlumency or attends the extra study sessions:
Name:
Year: Sophomore/Junior/Senior
Patronus Form: It can change from the last time we asked you, but this will be your official “canon” answer.
Why?: What does this animal mean, or why is it significant to them?
Their happy memory: What memory finally worked for them?
Their attempt: Any other notes on how it went for them?
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: This contributes to the likelihood of their success.

Name: Trixie Armstrong
Year: Senior
Patronus Form: Pufferfish
Why?: 'Cause it can be big or little and terrifying at times. Also they are poisonous when eaten and more terrifying than they look. Tiny fierce thing in a way. Trixie would have puffed up her face a bit too after she cast hers.
Their happy memory: Not exactly one single memory but a combination of her time at her father's work getting to look over all the fun sketches and look at what he created. She got to help out a little so getting to see something she suggested come to life was one of the greatest things in the world to her.
Their attempt: After awhile and being as determined as possible, Trixie got hers to work. It just took a bit longer than she wanted it to.
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: Nope. She struggled after all.

A quick note, but Trixie actually can't cast a patronus until we RNG her results since she's not in Occlumency. Only occlumency students are guaranteed success. We'll be back with her results later tonight.

Awesome! Sorry. I'm half asleep and determined to get this done.

Trixie fails to cast a full bodied patronus.
