PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

Ms. Lilywhite has been teaching a section on casting Patronuses. Every year, she allows non-DADA students to attend extra study sessions she holds after dinner, because she believes a well-formed Patronus is an important life skill. It’s… not, probably, but who’s going to argue with her?

HOW THIS WORKS

If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.

Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

Fill out this form if your character takes Occlumency or attends the extra study sessions:
Name:
Year: Sophomore/Junior/Senior
Patronus Form: It can change from the last time we asked you, but this will be your official “canon” answer.
Why?: What does this animal mean, or why is it significant to them?
Their happy memory: What memory finally worked for them?
Their attempt: Any other notes on how it went for them?
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: This contributes to the likelihood of their success.

Name: Veronica Powers
Year: Junior
Patronus Form: A Dolphin
Why?: Okay so. Dolphins are a water creature and Vee is a MERMAID. She also might be influenced by a certain nautical/sea faring pirate, but we're not going to jump right out with that and instead focus on LEGIT TRAITS TOO. It's different than her animagus, but just as appropriate. Dolphins are symbols of communication, intelligence, and emotion. The tend to be sociable, playful, and kind. They teach people to be motivated, inquisitive, and full of life. They also teach the importance of not taking oneself too seriously. Vee's animagus form is a fox, because it's appropriately associated with patience, wisdom, intelligence, adaptability, can be high-strung or calm, charismatic or mysterious, stand out or blend in, keep peace or make mischief.
Their happy memory: Pretty much any memory with Vic, to be quite honest. Though she remembers pretty vividly the first time she attempted to teach her to roller skate in the dessert. lol
Their attempt: Vee is a perfectionist, but she's not in either of these classes so it's pretty 50/50 still. If she is able to focus and clear her mind, it will work. Trouble is there's always a lot going on in that mind.
Are they in DADA or Occlumency?: Nope
