PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

Ms. Lilywhite has been teaching a section on casting Patronuses. Every year, she allows non-DADA students to attend extra study sessions she holds after dinner, because she believes a well-formed Patronus is an important life skill. It’s… not, probably, but who’s going to argue with her?

HOW THIS WORKS
If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.

Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

Year: Junior
Patronus Form: Ram
Why?: For Harriet, the ram is both a symbol of leadership and a symbol of sacrifice. A ram protects and lead the flock it belongs to. The ram is also a beast of sacrifice, as seen in such stories as the Binding of Isaac--this is particularly meaningful to Harriet as it's a story of having ultimate trust in God, even when nothing seems to make sense. As she plans to become a hazzan or a rabbi, she sees this as particularly important.
Their happy memory: Her bat mitzvah.
Their attempt: Harriet took several deep breaths to relax and clear her mind, then focused on her memory and the passage she'd read from the Torah during her bat mitzvah.
