PATRONUS STUDY SESSION

Ms. Lilywhite has been teaching a section on casting Patronuses. Every year, she allows non-DADA students to attend extra study sessions she holds after dinner, because she believes a well-formed Patronus is an important life skill. It’s… not, probably, but who’s going to argue with her?

HOW THIS WORKS
If your character attends these sessions or takes DADA, they will at least learn what their patronus will be and will get a partial formation. The mods will roll to see if your character can cast a successful full-bodied patronus.

Occlumency students are presumed to already be well-versed with this spell, as it requires emotional control and self-awareness, which are invaluable skills in Occlumency, especially if you plan on becoming an Auror. Unless you choose otherwise, all Occlumency students automatically succeed, or can already cast the charm.

Occlumency students: Automatic success.
Seniors in DADA: 75% success.
Seniors not in DADA: 50% success.
Juniors in DADA: 65% success.
Juniors not in DADA: 40% success.
Sophomores in DADA: 55% success.
Sophomores not in DADA: 30% success.

Year: Junior
Patronus Form: Lioness
Why?: Because Sy’s is a lion.
OK FINE. Also because lions are symbols of strength, assertiveness, and leadership, and also the single website I used to do this research said “[s]eeing your lion spirit animal could be an invitation to control your temper or your moderate aggressive impulses.” YEAH ROSEMARY. YEAH. And lionesses are the ones who do all the damn work.
Plus Rosy is probably a Gryffindor, so there’s that too.
Their happy memory: THIS IS THE HARDEST PART FOR ROSY. She likes to look back on her fondest memories and ruin them with cynicism. She tries to think of things like winning a science fair when she was nine, the first Stoker Twin Championship Belt Throwdown, going to Gooseberry, getting her prefect badge, but none of those are good enough. She finally connects with ~~playing~~ kicking ass at fucking Quidpong with Sy at the Grotto party. Because winning or losing didn’t really mean anything outside of drunken bragging rights, and idk she likes working together with Sy. They’re the juggernaut, bitch.
Their attempt: Rosy doesn’t like to acknowledge emotions, but that’s just to other people. She’s pretty self-aware, knows what she needs to keep on lock, and she’s good at DADA, so hopefully she’s not a TOTAL FAILURE.
