JUNIOR MONTHLY BONDING: November

JUNIOR BONDING

Mr. Hightower and Mr. Oakes have come together to combine communication skills and explosions, their favorite things respectively.

Each pair of students is given a strange device with a multitude of panels, buttons, wires and switches, as well as a weighty manual of obtuse instructions. Throughout the room are tables with curtains strung across them, which when the student is sitting, reach about shoulder-height.

One student (the Expert) is given the manual, the other (the Defuser) is given the device. They sit facing one another on opposite sides of the curtain. Oakes delightedly explains that the device in their hands is a bomb. Well, a fake bomb. The manual contains instructions on how to diffuse the bomb, and the Expert must guide their partner in defusing the "bomb." Everyone has one hour for today's bonding activity.

THE RULES
  • No peeking. There are charms that alert Hightower and Oakes of cheaters, and it gets you disqualified.
  • Each level of the game has a certain number of mistakes you're allowed before the bomb goes off. It starts with four strikes, and then if you succeed it goes down to three, then two, then one.
  • Each attempt gets five minutes before the timer on the bomb expires and it blows up.
  • When the bomb "explodes," it beeps loudly and blasts confetti at the person holding it.
  • Each time the bomb explodes, Oakes or Hightower will come by and magically reset it with a whole new set of panels, buttons and wires, so it's a fresh experience.
  • It is recommended that students switch off duties with each attempt, i.e. trading Expert and Defuser roles. However, if a team decides it's more efficient to stick to the same roles, that's fine. If there's more than two in a team, one person will be the Defuser and the others will be the Experts.
  • The goal is to make it through the four levels of the game. If your team succeeds, they will win a metal pin that declares them a bomb disposal expert. Oakes will salute them every time he sees a student wearing it.
The junior pairings are as follows:

Sybilla & Sylvester
Clementine & Avery
Bailey & Olivia
Cameron & Dominic
Casper & Riley
Marilyn & Harriet
Ursula & Reid Chloe & Veronica Rosemary & Coralee
Holden & Sofia Adeline & Katerina & Jacob Kurt & Saira
Reece & Casey

OOC: Yes, this game is based on Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes. You can watch this video (warning: swearing) for an example of the manual and the device in use, and an approximation of what your character will experience (warning: probably swearing).

In order to qualify for a win, please fill out the following:
Character:
Performance: How they did during the game. How are their communication skills? Do they take and/or give instructions well? Were they the person with the bomb or the manual? Do they keep their cool under pressure?
Score: Estimate on a scale of 1-10 how well they did.

Everyone is given points calculated from their score and RNG, and how well your team did is the total of everyone's points. If your team score is 10 points or more, you've passed the first level. 20 points, you've passed the second; 30, you've passed the third; and 40, you've beaten the game and get the prize.
