kazim raza, unhappy his sister came to party. (it happened.)
as though kas playing kurt, quinn, and casey weren't confusing enough...

hey there, relatively well-adjusted siblings of gooseberry! your terrorless reign is over: meet kazim raza. that's right, saira's older brother. AKA ebonhide's keeper. AKA that guy who hurt his arm on sunday. AKA one of the missing senior ebongents. AKA isaiah's heretofore unnamed ex.

some facts:

• ebonhide senior boy from chicago, IL!


• concept: "aimless musician unclear on how to rebel against familial expectations."


• kazim resents his parents for (as he sees it) taking away what he wanted to do (hang with friends! explore chicago! shenanigans!) and trying to push him into a successful life of boring academic after-school activities so he can "be successful." :(


• in freshman year he did EVERYTHING because he was FREE FROM HIS PARENTS!!! he partied, made mistakes, drank, made out a lot with a lot of people, etc. when saira arrived in sophomore year he did a 180. he got broody. he couldn't Be Himself anymore. he's had a lot of phases since.


• sooo he also resents his sister! she OBVIOUSLY can't be trusted with any information about his life because it will OBVIOUSLY go right back to their parents and they'll be gravely displeased. (she's not actually a spy.) the two have a very fraught relationship and rarely get along. it's a good thing they're in different houses. despite this, he's very protective of saira. if you mess her up you won't know who jinxed you into next tuesday, but you'll get the impression that you should never do it again.


• he tries to rebel against his family but... isn't quite sure how. he blindly follows his friends, however, and this has led to some trouble-making after which he can claim willful ignorance because "i thought they knew what they were doing!"


• he has a very laissez-fair attitude about things and isn't terribly expressive. oops.


• musician! he's played the bassoon since he was a kid and dropped the 'oon' to play bass guitar, and will one day drop the 'bass' and become a totally rad DJ. and yes, a child playing a bassoon is hilarious. tiny human, huge bassoon, etc.


• he dresses like mr. rogers and donald glover were in a transporter accident.


• gay but keeps it on the DL. he's convinced his parents would freak. (he thinks they're both automatons out to ruin his life and this image affords them little agency.) it's EXTREMELY UNLIKELY that your character would know this because kazim is very guarded about his own needs, wants, and views. the poor kid's nearly paranoid about it. only his closest friends would be aware, otherwise if you think your character might know tell me and we can work it out, but please don't assume that this is common IC knowledge.


• while he attends grotto parties, he doesn't drink and mostly just hangs out.


• he's really into nomaj stuff like the internet, fantasy, and murder mysteries.


• CLASSES: Potions, Charms, Transfiguration, Outdoor Education, History of Magic, Magizoology, Wizard Literature, Music (bassoon/bass guitar).


• EXTRACURRICULARS: Quidditch (Keeper), LARP, Boating, Outdoor Exploration. (notice how his classes and extras are so different from saira's? totally intentional.)

so LET'S DO THIS. he needs friends, especially those of the close variety and the can-follow-to-bad-ideas-territory variety! fellow musicians! it's plausible that he had a second relationship in the past that would have been short-lived and secretive! has your character been mean to saira? because they have a target on their back! i don't exactly know how people could hate him, but enemies may also apply!
