Amortentia was before my time and tbqh I am heartbroken that I missed it because I love talking about how my characters smell??? And since it happened a few months ago now and we've had plenty of ~character development~ in the intervening time, so maybe things have changed for one or more of your characters? This is a meme for revisiting the amortentia potion - what does your character smell when they get a whiff of it? What scents are associated with your character? And what does your character smell like, in general?

What do they smell? The ocean, the school gardens, old books, the ink from her favorite highlighters, hints of whatever the fuck Sy and Freddy smell like idfk, Chris’ deodorant and shampoo and his dumb clothes and face or whatever, I took so long to do this it’s already on the second page wow, I should finish this bottle of vodka.
What smells are they associated with? Lavender and vanilla and cherry blossom from her shampoo/body wash/lotion/whatever the fuck else has scents, books and pen ink and maybe the perfume she’ll wear for ~*~fancy~*~ occasions. Idk what it is. I just know she specifically does not wear anything rose-scented. Because fuck you that’s why.
Anything else? I DIDN’T EVEN LOOK AT THE OLD MEME, I’M SUCH A REBEL.

What do they smell? Books, oil paint and turpentine from his father's studio, Dimi's developing fluid, rain on stone, the swampy smell of the stream that runs through Ribbonfin, freshly laundered sheets. Aaaand now there's the very distinct addition of mint, Cole-specific art supplies, and his citrus and clove cologne.

What smells are they associated with? Sweet almond/marzipan hand lotion, powdery soap, and musty books or clothes that were in storage a little too long.

What do they smell? fresh paper in a brand new notebook, the particular scent of 16mm film stock, the heat smell of a running film projector which then turns into the heat smell of a running motorcycle, the lingering gasoline in a makeshift garage, the Nevada desert at night, and what is strongly and distinctly his brother's favourite leather jacket (which currently sits untouched on the bottom of Micah's trunk).

What smells are they associated with? boy sweat barely masked by cheap deodorant (the only scented product he bothers to use), notebook paper and quill ink, old film stock, and grease from the wizard cameras he tinkers on in Artificing.

Anything else? Same as October, but his "crush" smells have shifted to a wider range of people. Some perfume, some cologne, some random lotion. No one Micah's crushing on particularly stands out, especially compared to all the smells he associates with his brother. THIS KIND OF BOTHERS HIM.

What do they smell? EVERYTHING. EVERYONE. Twizzlers and rum, mud and rain and sweat and grassy cheer uniforms, hair dye and dry shampoo, gum and cinnamon and weed and leather, her dad’s cigarettes, Katya’s perfume, Levi’s vape, Casey’s soap, Cam’s cologne, cherry lip gloss, and just every kind of girl scent--fruity lotions and flowery perfumes and deodorants and shampoos. It is probably literally every single one of you girls at this school.
What smells are they associated with? Riley wears the most terrible, nose-burning cotton candy perfume, but she has other terrible scents too! Like licorice! And marshmallow! And whatever the fuck pixie dust smells like! Also I don't actually know what any of these perfumes smell like, they might not be awful, there are just so many nonsense scents ok.
Anything else? Riley is going to grab all of your butts at this dance.

What do they smell? Humid summer nights, her uncle's cologne, dirt, pine, freshly cut grass, freshly cut wood, toasting marshmallows
What smells are they associated with? Earthy smells - dirt, rain, trees, grass. Her hair smells a bit like coconut because of her shampoo, but she doesn't wear perfume or anything
Anything else? idk I need to go to bed :(

What do they smell? Cold, crisp air. Dewy grass. New Quaffle Smell™. Broom polish. Grass clippings. Damp soil. Fresh baked cookies. Redwood bark. Silty river mud. Sawdust. And... Locker room? Is locker room a cool scent to associate with love?
What smells are they associated with? Clem works out a lot so you definitely might catch her smelling like sweat, but considering the constant unbrushed aesthetic of her hair she's actually pretty meticulous about her hygiene. She doesn't use fancy or fruity-smelling products though, and mostly smells like... Dove soap and coconut milk shampoo. Very exciting. She definitely uses like old spice deodorant because fuck smelling like a glitter peach. And arnica ointment, for bruises, which has a kind of sharp scene that's a little mentholy.
Anything else? Okay hers probably smelled like quidditch stuff even before she was into Sy but it's not her fault he's literally just quidditch personified

What do they smell? lots of smoke: tobacco, campfires, fuckin barbecue meat smoke. hay, clean pet fur, the woods beside his childhood home. sugar cookies, maybe? something sweet and warm, anyway. old paper. hose water on hot concrete. underneath all these warm smells, he'd catch something sharp like frost.
What smells are they associated with? nothin' special. grass and dirt, honestly, not in a bad way, just like someone face-planted on a lawn. new clothes. the slightly alcoholic smell of an aftershave he absolutely does not need to use, lmao. mistakes.
Anything else? UGH typos. this is really hard b/c ulysses' fave smells make him sound more likeable than he is. also, i wrote this six hours ago and slept on it, but i came up with zero (0) new ideas in the night.

What do they smell? pencil shavings, wood polish, bike lube, lightning, ozone, rust, sour candy, brand new notebook, and just the tiniest hint of rubbing alcohol
What smells are they associated with? dial soap and speed stick, tea tree shampoo, peppermint chewing gum; you may also get a whiff of engine grease
Anything else? 200 years later i return with my youngest son, who should probably invest in a moisturiser

	Sylla smells her parents in the potion - which is just like cigarettes and old books and her mother's perfume. Nobody is surprised, not even her.
