MEME: Dog Breeds

My favourite game to play at the bar is "What breed of dog would you be?" where I determine what breed of dog my friends would be based on my comprehensive and pointless knowledge of everything canine. Real people are not enough and I'm mad with power, so I want to do this for your characters! And, like, other people can also give input. I guess.

Yes, this meme is completely self-indulgent.

Fill out the form and I'll tell you what kind of dog I think they would be if they were a dog! WIN-WIN. (I'll post an example with Kurt.) Disclaimer: Most of these will probably be bigger dog breeds because they're what I know best. Sorry not sorry for the bias, big dogs are the bomb.

Name:
House:
Profile: Link me.
Social Disposition: How do they act towards strangers? To friends? What are they like in different social situations? Do they have a large group of friends, or perhaps a select few that they're close with, or even no friends?
Independence: Are they needy? Stoic? Indifferent until they need something, or perhaps willing to help others but never to ask for help?
Loyalty: Are they a friend to the end? Selectively devoted? Flighty?
New Situations: How do they approach new situations?
Energy/Play: How energetic are they? Are they selectively hyper, or are they stuck on 'Energizer Bunny?' How do they like to shake off all that excess spirit? What are they like when they're in a feisty/playful mood?
Fears: What are they afraid of? How do they respond?
Environment: Where are they happiest? Ex. outdoors, running around, by a fireplace with a good book, at a party
Mantra: Optional. Are there any words your character lives by?
Other: Optional. Anything else I/we should know?
A Cute Gif of Your Character: Optional. If you have one gif you would like to share, we would like to see that one gif. I will also accept dog gifs.

Name: Calvin Evercreech
House: Ribbonfin
Profile: Link me.
Social Disposition: Calvin is unfriendly and abrasive, and has a reaaaaaally hard time with strangers. He's distrustful and pessimistic, and assumes the worst of people until they prove to him they mean well. They might have to prove it several times before it takes. He's highly intelligent and articulate, but tends to be illogical, and would rather prop up his fears and distrust than face the truth sometimes. He's also just kind of got a mean disposition, as much as he's trying to be better. With friends, he's soft, dorky, and naive, suggesting a lot of his aggression comes from fear and wanting to protect himself.
Independence: Acts more independent than he is. Calvin's heavily influenced by his close friends. His close friends are nice people? He's a nicer person. His close friends are assholes? Open season to be cruel.
Loyalty: Looks out for himself and his own. There's a secret well of bottomless emotional support hidden deep in Calvin. His friends can do no wrong. He'll always frame them as the ones who were in the right, their actions are always justified, it's always someone else's fault.
New Situations: Calvin approaches new situations with fear. He's pessimistic and assumes they'll go bad. Rather than get burnt, he'll assume failure is inevitable and not act. However, he's pretty brave when pushed, and is too proud to back down or let anyone walk on him. Which... sometimes gets him in trouble.
Energy/Play: Low energy. Not terribly playful. You have to be someone he trusts, and then you have to coax it out of him. ONLY THEN will he be able to enjoy some friendly play.
Fears: He's a scardey cat in general, but... horror stuff, people talking behind his back, being judged, being hurt, people attacking him, violence inflicted on his person, etc. Responds with blustery, proud anger.
Environment: Inside with a good book, companionship with close friends.
Mantra: I don't want to be like that anymore.
Other: ???

Calvin is a Saluki!
- Reserved around strangers, and can even be suspicious of them if not socialized properly as a puppy.
- Aloof in new situations.
- Salukis are sensitive and tend to pick up on excess emotions.
- They're clean and like to be comfortable. (Think 'distinguished arm chair' more than 'old sweatpants.')
- They tend to bond most strongly with a single person or few persons, and are not social butterflies.

So I wrote that and then decided "No, actually, Calvin would be a Chow." ... Calvin gets two because I think Chow is more applicable but I already wrote up the Saluki thing. Maybe he's a Saluki/Chow cross. That would be one super weird-looking dog.

lolol i love chow #2 so much

Calvin is ALSO a Chow (Chow)!
- If not handled extremely deliberately from a young age, Chows can tend toward either an overly-aggressive nature, or an overly-timid nature.
- They bond with friends/family, but only a choice few will be their inner circle. Said circle is protected tenaciously; sometimes too tenaciously.
- Chows are both reserved and stubborn.
- They are not terribly interested in strangers, but are most likely to be *okay* with them if introduced by a close pack member.

... What this all comes down to is that apparently I don't think Calvin was properly socialized as a puppy.
