Hey y'all! I'm Abby, I think I know a good percentage of you, but just in case not, hello! I'm a thirty-something marketing coordinator from the (presently blustery and damp) Northeast, and I'm bringing you Iris Shacklebolt.

(yes, that Shacklebolt, though expect her to clam right up if you start talking too much about her dad. It's kind of awkward, js)

THE BASICS

Pureblood.
Hogwarts exchange student for the last ~3 years.
Coppertale in a friendly sort of manner (a.k.a., she acts like she definitely knows everything and speaks with authority but ha ha haaaaaa she so does not).
Big on music and "impractical" classes because nobody expects her to be practical and awesome like her dad out here, whee!

OTHER STUFF

Iris came to Gooseberry because the pressure of being Kingsley Shacklebolt's daughter was WAY too much and was freaking her out. When she got there, she was initially pretty twitchy and jumpy and confusing, but she's calmed down a lot since getting used to being away from All Of That Stuff.
She's a reassuring type, who acts like she's really sure of herself and like everything is okay and like nothing bothers her. In truth, she's constantly questioning herself and doubting her choices, and only people who are super close to her would really pick up on that.
And while she's genuinely friendly with everyone, she's a little bit slower to get super close with people.
Pretty much sings all the freaking time and plays the guitar all the freaking time as well; her senior project is creating a guitar that can recognize people's emotions and play music to reflect and affect those emotions (the latter is something she's still debating on and struggling with charms-wise).

Rafael Ramirez (this journal) is a fellow senior Coppertale and one of the prefects. He's a ballet dancer who had to give up the dream of professional dancing because of a severe leg injury, but he still holds little dance classes in the morning. Rafael is poised and socially adept, but also an authoritarian control freak. He's a level headed but strict prefect who's not afraid of looking like the bad guy. REGARDLESS, I think he and Iris might really get along? They're both self-assured and hide any self-doubt, and their fathers are both ranking politicians in their home country. Rafael also grew up under a media microscope.

Diego Morales

morale is a senior Azurcrest and a fellow musician. Diego's very friendly, attentive and warm, but also impulsive, attention-seeking and desperately insecure. The only thing he can pull himself together for is music. He's the front man of a student band, but he's always up for collaborating with other musicians in the school.

Reid Wainwright

unresponsive is a junior Coppertale. He's icy and unfriendly, but that's only because he's awkward and has shitty communication skills. If Iris is nice to him, he's really easy to win over even if he's hard to talk to.

Calvin Evercreech

evercreep is a sophomore Ribbonfin, and a fellow exchange student. Iris might vaguely remember him as being a tiny Slytherin bully back at Hogwarts, but now at Gooseberry he gets picked on by Sy Stoker. He's whiny and acerbic, but clever and articulate. He's ashamed of his past at Hogwarts and is still trying to work on being a better, happier person, so he might be a little awkward around Iris if she remembers how he used to be.

Hi Meggie!

I think Iris definitely would've bonded with Rafael over (a) creative stuff and (b) political dads. She totally would've jammed with Diego if the opportunity ever arose and would've been nice, at the very least, to Reid. Also she probably side-eyes Calvin from time to time, but not to the point of trying to make him uncomfortable, more "well, that's karma for you" or something along those lines.

Hi Abby! I'm Aleena! WELCOME TO THE WILD WORLD OF GOOSEBERRY!

I just have the one character right now. This is Cressida Quayle, but she goes by Cricket. She's a Senior Ebonhide Prefect from an old pureblood line in Tenessee. Her mom is the magical Martha Stewart and her dad is a MACUSA rep who is probz gonna run for president this next cycle. She's got a warm, cheery, overly helpful exterior cocooning a deeply neurotic and petty core.

Cricket generally "gets along" with everyone, so she'll be friendly with Iris. She'd be very curious to pick Iris's brain about her dad, because she is writing her thesis on the causes and aftermath of the wizarding wars, but the second Iris seems uncomfortable, she'll stop. That's probably already happened by now and Cricket won't ask again!

There's bonding there with the whole "famous parents" thing though idk how Cricket feels about having pretty Big Deal parents (as opposed to Iris who's like NOPE about it all the time)? Either way, Iris will be friendly and may have talked a little bit about her dad, at least assuming Cricket didn't have any presuppositions when she asked. And she probably would've been more willing to talk about things like "he's a total sell-out because he supports Tutshill" and "he snores so bad sometimes that Mum makes him sleep in his office" which is not helpful for Cricket's thesis, but yanno.

So most relevant to iris is I have Chris at this journal. He's a senior coppertale. He's abrasive and can be a dick, and is a beater for the quidditch team. and also kiiinda sideeyes purebloods because his father is the first pureblood he met and that guy's a major douche. They also have five classes together. And to catch you up on his life, he's not handling romance very well, and he found a magical rock that makes everything feel better, and he's slowly, steadily becoming codependent on this rock that just seems like a rock to everybody else. He definitely probably made iris feel his rock and she definitely probably went 'good job, kid, you found a rock.' i figure after three years they're probably on friendly terms, possibly actually friends, who she might possibly detest his attitude. It doesn't matter because he definitely still made her feel his rock despite her disposition toward him

And Olivia Sanchez is a junior coppertale, a prefect, on the cheer team, in drama with iris. She's much more open. She's a lesbian and grew up in a mixed family; her father is hardcore into boxing, and she grew up in boxing. But she's kinda super happy and friendly and will probably treat iris like a friend.

then i have solomon webb, who is a sophomore ebonhide and probably has very little to do with iris but he is in drama with her. And choir. he's a marshmellow who sees the good in everything and enjoys showering people with random facts.

Hi Roz!

This is Iris' rock-petting face. She'd have been indulgent but also probably was like "...bud, it's a rock. There's a billion of them outside." BUT anyway she'd also be friends with him, side eyeing his attitude plenty, but also balancing her side eyeing of his attitude with "but he's my friend" because Hufflepuff loyalty yo.

Iris will also be friendly to Olivia and and Solomon, though she won't know them as well!

But anyway I have two! This one is Leonardo Fiori, Ebonhide senior/Quidditch captain and Beater. He's from NJ and has much older siblings and he wants to be an Animagus Auror, and it's all very ambitious. He's also good at talking his way into sounding confident. He'd really like Iris I think!? He'd talk about her dad only like once or twice.

And then I have Addy at ~adorbs! She's a Junior Azurcrest/ human disaster who happens to also be good at Potions and loving people. She's probably not that involved in the same places as Iris but she'll be friendly when they do interact!

Zoey Valentine,

valentinez, who is a ribbonfin senior. calm, friendly, frankly super ribbonfinny w some sprinkles of rebellion. she plays chaser for her quidditch team, is in a band w a couple of azurcrests, super super good at potions, kinda brainy, annnnnnd also a wannabe seer (much to the dissatisfaction of her mother). most recently she's been falling back into some overworking tendencies & getting quietly disillusioned w things ;-; she and iris have music in common!! that guitar idea is super cool and i could see z volunteering to help out with trials, etc. they also have a handful of classes in common, though z is def more buckle-down academicc

annnnd then there's Laurel Templeton, this journal -- she's an azurcrest senior, super into drama & theatre & costumes and clothing charms, dancer, nerdy lil bookworm. she's kinda just a silly, straightforward, cheery type who thinks everything is funny and has a hard time taking anything seriously except her sincere interests. she also has an identical twin in ribbonfin, which is fun. she gets along w people pretty well & would vibe with iris' approach to school, haha. <3

Hey Abby! I just joined a few days ago so I'm a noob too, so welcome! :D

I apped two peeps straight off the bat - the first here is Hazel, who is a wild Coppertale Sophomore. The might cross paths because of the whole Coppertale thing. She's just excitable, sports crazy, and likes to climb trees, so they don't have too much in common but still!

My other character is Asher Guthrie (

guthriegazette). He's a Ribbonfin Senior - he's in choir + a senior, plus he's going to be doing a school newsletter so he'll be curious to ask her about Hogwarts and the like (but won't pry about her dad!). He's a nice guy and also super likes singing all the time.

sunsoutgunsout) is a coppertale junior. he tried to be a bully when he arrived and was unsuccessful, but still likes to push as many buttons as possible in the name of "it's all in good fun." he's not terribly smart and will hit on iris because she is vaguely human and probably hot.

quinn cunningham (this journal!) is a senior azurcrest prefect and academic overachiever who has kind of positioned herself as an honourary coppertale over the years. responsible party animal and not-responsible sports fanatic. she's in a bunch of iris's classes and i think they would get along pretty well! i think they should be frieeeeends.

kurt wolfhart (

lovekurts) is a ribbonfin junior who's in drama with iris and probably thinks she's really nice bc reassuring = a+. animal lover & talented actor but a shy guy (heeee's workin on that) with a stutter.

Hi Abby, welcome to the game! I'm Josie and I have three characters:

First up is Pippa Nightingale, a Ribbonfin sophomore and Hogwarts exchange student new to Gooseberry this year. She's a naive but sweet little vegan who gets excited about ALL THE THINGS and will talk to pretty much anyone on the journals, but I think she might be a little bit starstruck around Iris?? Pippa was also in Hufflepuff, so she'll have known Iris back then, and they're now in Choir together. Pippa approves of people singing all the time. Singing is fun! And it's good for reducing anxiety and stress! SO long story short she'll be friendly~

Henrietta Gray (

unregrettable) is a senior and the new Azurcrest Quidditch captain, taking over from her sister who was captain for the last two years. She's a typical party girl, and likes to have fun, although she can come across as really blunt over the journals because she just says what she means. I think she'd get on pretty well with Iris, though!

Aaaand lastly I have Coralee Wong (

firecoral), Coppertale junior, who is kind of a bitch although she tries to hide it under fake sweetness and passive aggression. Coralee is a troll who loves stirring up trouble for the lulz, and pretty much just treats people like they're there for her entertainment, BUT she might be a little bit more circumspect with Iris, given who she is. OR MAYBE NOT. Time will tell! (Oh and Coralee is also in Drama with Iris.)
