Introducing Cedric
Howdy everyone, it's Millie here again with Cedric Diggory, as far away a character I can possibly get from Terence. I'm a little apprehensive, to tell the truth. He's one of the very few characters I've played that's more than just a name mentioned in passing. I shall endeavour to be worthy of er, canon.

Hmm, what do you need to know about Cedric? First of all, he's good. Seriously, he's just plain good. If he were a superhero he'd be Captain America. He can say world peace is possible with a straight face and the shining eyes of a true believer. He hates injustice, inequality, bullies, cheaters.

Watch out though, this version can be a wee bit temperamental. As a kid, when one of his favourite Quidditch players was found guilty of match-fixing he burnt all his memorabilia, wrote an obituary for Quidditch and dug a grave for it. (Later he got over this, obviously, and felt embarrassed enough about his fit of temper he had to dig another grave to bury the tombstone of the earlier one.)

If he knew what went down at Hogwarts during OotP he might either have died from disillusionment or snapped and tried to strangle Umbridge.

Cedric's not very self-aware or given to introspection. He is always more easily swayed by a good sob story than any hard facts.

What else...not sure. But there's more details at his bio if you're curious.

So, Prefects? Quidditch players? Gobstone fanatics? Fellow Puffs (all four of us)? I'm always up for plotting or more backstory. There's email, and I also went and got AIM since that seems to be the IM service of choice - lolzeft@gmail.com is my username. Shall stop blabbering on now.

Yay Cedric! Don't worry, I have complete confidence in you and your RPing skills. :)

Before anything, I should apologize for forgetting to mention something when you held him, but thankfully you didn't put anything in his application that contradicted it. You see, Cedric is the cousin of Marcus and Allegra Flint (their mother is Amos' baby sister), which means Cedric has a cousin in game. I'll leave the details of Cedric's relationship with Allegra to Julie, since she's her player, but I felt it would be a good idea to apologize beforehand for this. Also, Allegra will be the connection between Cedric and Cormac (well, they're both in the Gobstones Club as well), and Cormac will be nicer to Cedric than he would have been otherwise for her sake. Time will only tell if things will stay that way once the champions are announced, though, as Cormac will understandably be Team Potter all the way.

Hamish is a fellow player, of course, and in spite of the house rivalry he'll be fair and friendly. He waves off any responsibility for the way his twin might act, though. (Also, he's Cho's friend so be nice to her or you'll have to deal with him, mister.)

And I should also point out that I'm currently working on my third character, who will be Cedric's dormmate - and hopefully his friend? Before his bio is completed I might need to talk to you and Alison, as I'm thinking of getting him kicked out of his house by his father, who was never pleased with the fact he has a wizard as a son and will lose it when he comes out, and I'm wondering if his friends are willing to help him out.

That's alright, I read Allegra's application and saw that. I incorporated it into Cedric's bio (by not mentioning it, basically) because I don't like contradictions, either. Julie and I can work out more details later. :)

I don't think Cedric could blame Cormac for being Team Potter, as it seems to be Harry and the Gryffindors vs the entire rest of the school. Poor Harry. Believe me, Cedric can manage without Cormac's support. :P

Yes, more Hufflepuffs! The more the better. Hufflepuffs aren't meant to be alone, the poor dears. Cedric would definitely be friends with all his dorm-mates.

That's good. And you're absolutely right, sometimes omission is the best strategy.

Cormac thinks otherwise, of course, but that only makes it funnier. :P

Indeed, we Hufflepuffs are a very gregarious bunch. :)

Awww. He can come stay with Barney's family. They have a fairly open door policy on people... and animals. So if he doesn't mind sharing a room with a chicken or something...

Aww, Samir will appreciate it. Also, he finds the idea of sharing a room with a chicken rather funny.

He is very patient with Barney. Barney forgets that for most people chicken don't hang about the place like cats.

Well, they do come from very different backgrounds, so after all these years as dormies I'm sure they've both learned to be patient about the things they're unfamiliar with about the other's world.

Wooooo! I'm sure your Ced will be great.

Okay so Barney LOVES him. He might possibly hero-worship him a bit as well. Same dorm, same Quidditch team, same blind idealism... they should get on well :-) Barney will even shut up to listen to Cedric. Oh, and we have plans that involve Barney taking Allegra to the Yule ball, and their obvious connection is Cedric so we should talk with Julie to figure something out - maybe Cedric could suggest Barney ask her?

Lee actually likes him as well. He'll know him from commentating on games. Lee is quite a bit more cynical than Cedric, but he sort of feels a bit like you have to protect the idealistic people just to make sure some of them exist.

Mel thinks he's hot. So. She will be friendly ;-) Her dad is a Quidditch reporter so she's a good person to talk to about Quidditch, especially if you want some memorabilia.

Stella will be really upset with Cedric for suggesting this. After all their years of friendship! Humph.

(I am too lazy to change to the proper journal on my phone, okay? And Amelia always looks nicely irritated.)

Stella should be more single-minded instead of chasing everything with floppy hair. Then she would get what she really wants.

Stella is like Ado Annie: just a girl who Cain't Say No.

Apparently today is the day that I remind everyone that I used to be a musical theatre major, eh?

BAAAAAAARNEY. *glomps* We could have a fine bromance. When the Triwizard Tournament gets started properly Cedric obviously needs someone to train and practice spells with. I just this image of them hanging about the lake, practising bubble-head charms and having 'who can hold their breath underwater the longest' contests. Boys will be boys, and all that. :D

Cedric finds Lee's commentary quite funny, if he's not making jokes at Hufflepuff's expense.

....... Now I want to re-write the worlds to "A Fine Romance" to be "A Fine Bromance" but we'd be getting into serious slash-fic territory if I started pining for Ced and Barney to be "like a couple of hot tomatoes".

Lalalalalalala.

Yay bromance! Barney will practice anything Cedric wants, and Cedric will almost certainly always win every contest, but this will not put Barney off in the least :-)

Lee says he would never. He likes Hufflepuffs. It is Slytherins you have to watch.

Oh, and I forgot to say before, but Mel is in Gobstones club so she will know Cedric from that.

He is exactly the kind of guy Marietta would swoon over. Which might make it a bit difficult for her when he starts dating Cho.

But obv she thinks he's awesome.

Hi Millie Im Carrie and I have three here all of who would know Cedric from various things.

Jules Dorny, seventh year Slytherin and fellow prefect. Jules is quiet, antisocial and barely says more than two words. He's perpetually unwhelmed and is very upfront with that. He's a fair prefect mostly because he doesn't like everyone equally. He'll be formally polite to him.

Lucy Chambers, [info]bemoaning, sixth year Ravenclaw and fellow Quidditch player. Lucy is very blunt, tends to be very live and let live and has a dry sense of humour. Lucy can talk to anyone, but she isn't always polite and Cedric's earnest values make her shake her head a little. She still likes him well enough and will tease him good naturedly.

Tamsin Applebee, [info]supinley sixth year Hufflepuff and fellow teammate on the Quidditch team. Tamsin is a hipster before there were hipsters, she's a vegetarian, she's also very into equality and very anti establishment. She likes to read and listen to music and will generally stay out of people's way for the most part. She comes across a little pretentious, but means well for the most part. She'll be friendly as she can be to Cedric.

I don't know how Cedric would get on with Jules, but I want to RP with him because ZOMG Andrew Garfield. OK, shallowness ends here.

If Tamsin can stand it, Cedric will talk a lot about Hufflepuff Quidditch and how next year is definitely going to be their year. Seriously. If Quidditch in general ever comes up in a conversation he's going to relate it back to Hufflepuff.

Nice to meet you! :)

Hi! I'm Crystal and I play Leanne Clearwater, a fifth-year Ravenclaw. She's introspective and off in her own world half of the time, shy and quiet, and aspires to become a fashion designer. She's in Gobstones club, so she'll know Cedric from that. Like 90% of girls in school, she has something of a crush on him, so she'll be a little shy around him, though probably less shy once he and Cho start dating.

We totally should. I don't know how timezones will work out but surely we'll be online at the same time, sometime. Fair warning - sometimes I go on IM and leave it on and then walk away from the computer...or I've put it on mobile at work cause I can't help myself but I can only half pay attention to it.

I feel like I've bveen so slow. :O

But omg yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay cedric! Woo!

Cedric looks awesome.

There's the obvious of Cass being a fellow quidditch player and prefect... I imagine they probably get along better as prefects, at least as far as civility is concerned; whereas on the pitch it's down to serious business. the other thing is that Cass will be putting his name in the Goblet... but alas it's clearly not meant to be; still he's far more likely to cheer for Cedric than Potter... although unlike the rest of his House he won't go round wearing 'Potter Stinks' badges.

Aaaand as for the Allegra thing... I apologise for not actually saying anything to start with. Okay so the relation thing is that Ariel (Allegra's mum) is a younger sister of Amos. Um basically from a previous game where I played Allegra (but er it was well after GoF... so... yeah) the thing with Cedric was that he was generally a calming and good influence on her, since she had a big tendency to act kind of spoilt and everything. so... um that's the gist of what it was. basically I think it's like what i said to Patricia one time and that's that Cedric was basically something like Allegra's conscience. ...but i'm open to any ideas you might have on their relationship too

Cedric thanks Cass for that. Well, he'll probably allow himself a few days to feel aggrieved and to secretly enjoy seeing those badges before he thinks the Potter backlash is too over the top. I mean, he's only human.

I guess we might have to do some Prefecty things since Quidditch is not on. Cedric probably accepts what happens on the pitch stays on the pitch, so I think they'll be OK. Plus Seekers are kind of off in their own little world, aren't they? Might as well be playing a totally different game.

I didn't put anything in Cedric's bio to contradict having the Flints as cousins, so it all works. He can totally be Allegra's conscience (ha, he can totally be anyone's conscience). Or we could play it by ear. :)
