Owain is 41 and quite a dour, sensible chap who prefers to spend most of his time on the Davies estates in Merlin's Bridge, Pembrokeshire. Officially a professional landowner and estate manager, he is unofficially King James' eyes and ears on the ground in Wales, quietly shoring up support for the monarchy. He brooks no nonsense and is not a fan of frivolity, and only shows up at formal events at court when asked very nicely by the Potters or basically nagged by his mother.
Speaking of said mother, Anwen Jones is the one responsible for his engagement 11 years ago to an Irish Duke's daughter (the female Travers), as he can't possibly keep his younger brother as his heir his whole life. He has never met the girl and only corresponded with her a handful of times through embarrassment at the situation - which could be good plot if a) the Irish want to meddle and try and stir Welsh rebellion through him by actually getting him wed, b) if the English want him to act as a double agent or c) if the Travers family are desperate for a match for their daughter and/or dislike the Flints/DGAF.
