Flora couldn't help but allow herself a pleased grin of delight at the compliment given by the Queen, but attempted to smother it in time for the next point to be brought up. Out of deference to the older woman's position, she remained standing, waiting to be called to sit before doing so. In the meantime, she smoothed the fabric of her trousers with her hands, gathering her thoughts as she watched the Crown Prince playing in his grandmother's lap.
"Yes, Your Majesty, I did. I had the thought after I overheard some of the maids discussing disabling the sound on the alarms that were in place when I first arrived - oh, which reminds me, they definitely need retraining on the security front - and I did some investigating. I noticed that there aren't that many wards actually on the nursery, just one that alerts the guards if it is crossed, which tends to be used at night when there are fewer staff around."
Flora paused, realising that she was gabbling. Her father would not approve.
Taking a breath and making sure she spoke more slowly this time, she continued. "I have some ideas that will be more complex to actually fit unto the nursery, and the staff will require extensive training, but I think for the Prince's safety, it would be worth it. Some are wards I have used before, but others I would need to experiment a little to make sure that they would work safely with the others."
She stopped again, concerned about boring the Queen with constant chatter.
