Octavia was realizing slowly just how badly she'd wanted Sam to find something. She'd wanted him to tell her that Lincoln wasn't real, that he was something here to haunt her, or some creature impersonating him. Then she could have just killed the creature and gone on with her life. Now, she was being forced to re-examine her feelings, and with everything she'd been through in the past six years, introspection was not really something she wanted to do.
She'd been a different woman when she'd been with Lincoln. His death had broken her, and the past six years in the Bunker had shattered what was left. There was very little softness left within her, if there was any at all. She'd killed many people. She'd become brutal and ruthless. When she'd said she feared was incapable of loving anyone, it was completely and entirely true.
And yet, there was something, deep inside of her, that still loved Lincoln. That would always love Lincoln. She didn't know if she was capable of freeing it, but she could feel it. It wouldn't be something that could happen right away, but maybe...well. That was why she had to see him. She had to absolutely make sure it was him...she had to look him in the eye...and tell him everything that had happened. It wasn't going to be pleasant.
She was pacing as she waited, her knife in her hand just because it helped her think.
