Couple announcements:

1. We closed applications for characters under 25 that aren't on the premade list until further notice (most likely until the end of the month and possibly a bit into November). We are obviously trying to encourage filling lines that we need rather than making more, and a stronger presence from scientists and people working for the scientists.

2. From now on, applications where the character knows they're adopted will be accepted on a case by case basis. Too many on the island so far, and the Scientists wouldn't be very forth coming with this information. A few is fine, but if everyone knows they're adopted, then there could be doubt, etc.

3. Sweeps WILL be held this month. We kind of let things slide last month because of all the hiatuses. We will be taking many different things into account. Seven days before we do sweeps, I'll post a warning list. All characters on that list have those seven days to post before removal. We will not be doing this on a PLAYER to PLAYER basis. It's a CHARACTER to CHARACTER basis. Just because you're active with one, does not mean we will keep the other one around. (Obviously new characters that were just added this month are in the clear!)

4. Before sweeps, I will post a thread with a get-out-of-jail-free card. Essentially, anyone wishing to drop a character will be able to do so without any repercussions. This is preparation for November, or NaNoWriMo.

5. Speaking of NaNoWriMo, I thought it might be fun to have our game participate in our own version of RPWriMo. For those unfamiliar with NaNoWriMo, it stands for National Novel Writing Month. November is obviously the month in question. The point is to write a 50k word novel in 30 days. Basically, it encourages just plain writing without going back and fretting over the minor details. RPWriMo is usually 30k and can include solos, your replies in threads, any kind of prompts you write for your characters, etc. I thought it might be neat if we did one specifically for Genome, since I understand that some of you (like myself) will be participating in the actual NaNoWriMo and are also part of other games. My initial idea was 15k words for Genome alone. Again, this can include your replies in threads, solos, long journal entries (the initial post only, if only because it takes FOREVER to do word counts on each individual tiny comment) and possibly prompts. I can find a counter for us to use, and maybe once a week, we can all post our total word counts thus far. What do you guys think? 15k a good amount?

6. OTA October is going well. Wish more people would post. There are still a few open threads and lots to be posted still. (I know I still have to tag some.)

7. Anyone have any ideas for small game wide side plots that might be fun or interesting? Nothing too big, just little things we could involve the entire game, or a large amount in. I've got a few in mind but the best games always collaborate.

8. I (Alissa) will be taking a small break over the weekend because I've got a big test on Monday in a subject that I'm not terrific in. Sadly, my sciences reach only as far as genetics and physics. Everything else, I fail at. ANYWHO. You might still see my characters around because I am the queen of procrastination, but I'm really going to try and study.

If I forgot anything, I'll add later. This shit is already long enough.

Oh hai! [20 Oct 2010|05:18pm]
This is Aura, who was asking for family yesterday.

In retrospective, that doesn't sound so good, no. Coming up next is Sammy, by the by. I'll deal with adult muses once life settles down, or deceives me that it's settling, the little bugger.

Anyway, enter Georgiana Bennett, sister of Gloriana Bennett, and step sister of Eva "Roxy" Bennett! She will surely try to change her name once she turns 21. For the world at large she's George, and you better call her like that unless you are really close to her, or Glory. Lil' sister has liberties, trufax. Here's her profile.

She's a loving, overprotective sister, and she will definitely punch anyone that dares to even look bad at Glory -or probably growl at the general direction first-. She's also a closeted bisexual, and so very much uncomfortable about it. Oh, the drama to come...

Girl needs the whole package: Friends, BFs, BFFs, enemies, frenemies, probable crushes -both genders are fair game-, and all a little town can throw at her. She's a friendly enough person, and while her temper could be a lot better, you actually need to be trying to seriously piss her off to ruin your chances of befriending her. She's eighteen and on 12gh grade, by the by. I'm not American, so I'm at a loss of where the last school year should have started/will start and when it ends, so pointers please?

...Did I mention she's a rather strong telekinetic? Just saying.

My mail is : auragifford@gmail.com
And my AIM is : Sophie Escapes

Do add me, and poke me as much as you want, because this week I might be a little scarce.

It's good to be here!
