What: Best friend times
When: Thursday, late afternoon
Rating: PG-15 (just to be safe)
Considering the current state of affairs, Lily was intensely glad that she had somewhere she could go that would provide her some form of refuge from the drama that had blown up in her personal life. If she was one to believe in more religious notions, the good is always balanced out with the bad. She was spiritual, but not that much, she was, after all, at her heart, a scientist. But also an artist, it was a confusing state to be in half the time. She trusted her heart but often followed her head and they warred constantly. Particularly after her conversation with her son. He was scared and felt alone and has been isolated from his peers for making a series of mistakes. Everybody made mistakes, it was just a shame so many people ended up being involved and hurt. She could understand why so many people were angry with Luke for what had happened, but at the same time they were all teenagers and everyone was making mistakes and messing up. It wasn’t just him. And it could have been handled in a much better way, but that was teenagers for you.
But, she at least had her friends she could talk to. Which was why she found herself outside Quinn’s home, knocking on the door a couple of times and waiting. She’d been battling strange cravings all day and still needed to book an appointment with Laura Jones to get an “official” diagnosis even though she was pretty positive at this point that she was pregnant: eight tests didn’t lie. But maybe something to help the nausea would be available. After all, until about half one in the afternoon, her stomach was on a hair-trigger. And she’d gone completely off coffee: the smell alone turned her stomach, and also grilled cheese. She’d made herself some the other day and when it came time to eat it the taste actually offended her. She ended up giving it to Alec. He didn’t mind all that much.
She hadn’t texted ahead, but she knew well enough that Quinn was going to be in: she’d said as much last time they’d spoken. She just needed some reassurance that it was going to be okay. Luke’s powers had manifested, the tension at home reached unbearable levels sometimes and Lily felt like she was trying to hold it all together. It was tiring. Sometimes she wished she didn’t care as much, that she was able to just let her family fall apart like so many others but she couldn’t.
She shifted from foot to foot as she waited for Quinn to come to the door. Thankfully it wasn’t too cold out.
