Who: Mao and Lizzie.
What: Luke's victims bond.
When: The morning after the BIG JAMES EXPLOSION!!!
Rating: Mao is probably going to swear a lot.
He really didn't want to do this. Going to school felt like a death sentence. But he missed so much already, and asking Tetsuo to let him stay home would mean he would have to actually talk about everything. He just couldn't do that, not yet, not with his poor brother, who'd probably feel guilty for some crazy reason. He didn't want Tetsuo to feel like a failure when it came to raising him. All of Mao's behavior was his own stupid shit, he blamed himself completely.
Mao dragged himself out of bed, he hadn't slept, how could he? He had lain awake all night, staring at the ceiling, wallowing in misery. He was exhausted, his head pounded and his stomach clenched in dread. He didn't bother to take his usual amount of time getting dressed and ready. He didn't give a fuck what he looked like. He threw on a t-shirt, a holey pair of jeans, and ran a brush impatiently through his hair. Fuck styling it.
He slunk out of the house early, not wanting his brother to offer him a ride or something like that. He was going to try to get through the day without talking to anyone. Well, anyone except Lizzie. As horrible as he anticipated it was going to be, he kind of wanted to talk to her. He wanted to tell the whole story. Every little fucking thing. There was no one else he could talk to but her. If he said a word to anyone else, it'd just backlash on him and he'd get himself into even deeper shit.
He arrived at the school, staying outside, out of the way from the doors. He tried to blend into the background, avoiding attention as much as possible while still keeping an eye out for Lizzie. As soon as he spotted her he planned on moving them away from the crowds of in coming students. He didn't want to talk where anyone could see or listen. He knew he was going to cry.
