Life had gone on. Though no one had actually expected Toby to just move on and be alright with losing his mom, he still felt as if it was some kind of duty of his. As if he owed it to his friends and family to just be Toby as usual and keep things going. In a way, it was nice that things didn't have to change. He didn't want his friends to tiptoe around him until he felt better, so he didn't give them the opportunity. It was good plan, really. Except, of course, for the part where he wasn't just letting himself be sad.
"Not too long." Toby shrugged. He had sort of figured he'd beat Dale to the park. Wyrd Haven wasn't as close as JFKHS was. Honestly, he hadn't even been keeping track of time. "How was school?" Normally that would be a dumb, small talk way to start a conversation, but as far as schools went, Wyrd Haven was sort of interesting, and Toby knew a lot of the kids from back on the island. It was nice to hear a little gossip about old friends now and again. And anyway, what wasn't interesting about a school full of super powered teens?
