All the blood was starting to make Alice feel a little queasy. He reeked of it as he walked through her house, and it wasn't exactly a small amount all over him either.
"Caleb." Alice was not meant for this kind of thing. She didn't know what she was supposed to do in a crisis (namely her brother covered in someone else's blood looking like he was about to have a complete breakdown). She wasn't good at making split-second decisions and making everything better all of a sudden. She let other people do those kinds of things!
"Caleb, it's going to be fine," she said in what she hoped was a reassuring voice. "Look. First. Get out of this stuff. It's not helping to look at it. Here." And she wasn't going to be much good to him if she felt like she was going to hurl from the smell. She turned on the shower as she tried to piece together what had happened. Something about Adrian, his partner. Which meant this stupid job of his had gotten him in trouble just like she'd thought it would- but this wasn't the time for that. Had his partner gotten hurt?
