As the two of them walked towards the diner Josie shot a few proud smiles after her little...well...not so little boy anymore. She noted that he had overshot her in height this past summer, something she was a little stunned by since she wasn't really that short of a girl. She stood at a good 5'7" and he was a good few inches taller than her. At his age she knew that he wasn't going to stop growing for a few more years, she worried about the day he outgrew Adrian.
Josie smiled again at Dale's jovial expression, today was one of his good days. Good days for him were far and few between as he got older. She loved these days, it was these days that she saw her son, her baby, her little miracle. The boy who brought her back to life. On these days he was so like Jacen, well...like Jacen before they had that huge fight. That stupid fight that part of thinks he still hates her over that. But that wasn't the point, she was happy that she saw her brother in him. She saw both brothers in him. JJ had been such a constant in his life he couldn't help but influence the boy growing up. Sure, she knew Dale probably didn't think she knew about his behavior at school, but she knew all about the pranks. While she knew she should be upset with him, the stories about all the trouble he got in made her smile. That was so JJ and herself she guessed. Yeah, he was a little like her too. However, she hoped that he didn't inherit her mindset on relationships that she had at his age. She shot another look over at him...he wouldn't, she could tell, he was too much of a good kid to do that.
She giggled as he opened the door for her, mama trained her boy well. Josie glanced around the place was identical, she even recognized some of the faces of employees. She locked eyes with one of the cooks and gave a little wave. His eyes seemed to light up and he smiled back.
"Booth," Josie responded to her sons question and made her way over to 'their booth' as they had dubbed it all those years ago. She sat down on her usual side of the booth. Even back then Dale insisted on sitting across from her, wanting to be a big boy. He always wanted to grow up quickly and looking at him now she realized how fast her really was growing. In four short years he'd be out of the house off at one college or another. She knew how fast those years would go and she made a promise to herself that she'd cherish every moment she had with him. That she'd watch over him like always to make sure that he never ever reminded her of his father.
