Neil was truly starting to understand why it was that some of his colleagues had gotten homes in the DC area where their families would live while also maintaining their houses back in their representative states. Then they were also the ones working on a second or third term and planned to make a career out of this. It was what was expected of you from the moment you were declared a winner in November and from there you were thrown into the Game of politics more deeply than you ever expected. Men and women with a better history of ethics in the past had fallen into the trap of bright lights and big returns just for your vote. Neil hated the Game and all of its intricacies and he definitely wasn't sure about a second term, any less some of baseless rumors that he was going to consider a run for president. He might have been vaguely reckless at times, but right out stupid enough to think that he would get any sort of nomination? Plus he didn't even want to think about what Ethan would have to say if he brought it up even jokingly. No, his life was approximately 225 miles away and growing up after than he cared to think about.
It still left him with the tourists of the District to contend with as they took pictures of everything in sight while he was just trying to enjoy his sandwich and just go over the rest of the itinerary for the day and try to finish his remarks for the hate crime bill. Which really he could at least get some notes down rather than worrying about people posing. He pulled the yellow legal pad from his bag and just started adding bullet points of things he wanted to make sure to cover. It was a few minutes though before he had a shadow creeping over his paper. It wasn't that he couldn't still see considering it was the middle of the day, but the moving shape was distracting when he was in the middle of a thought. "Two steps to the left and you won't be blocking my light, thank you very much," he commented without looking up. When the figure didn't move though he finally looked up to see who it was and hoping there wasn't avocado on his shirt.
