Lexie gratefully accepted the hug, strangely comforted by her little brother's words. Sometimes it took a kid to put some things into perspective. Maybe Lexie was making all of this a lot more complicated than it had to be. "Well... I'm glad. I guess it is kind of awesome." Lexie hesitated, then added, "One day it just started happening, I guess. I don't even know how long it's been happening; I just recently noticed that when I touch people and they're hurt, suddenly they aren't hurt anymore. It freaked me out a little, obviously."
Lexie laughed and smiled gently at her brother. Sweet little Alfie. Of course she thought he was exaggerating by quite a bit - if anyone was the best person in the world, it would be the Dali Lama or someone. Or possibly Macy. "It's my destiny, huh?" Lexie ruffled Alfie's hair playfully. "Next thing, you're going to be telling me that I need to go on a quest and find some magical artifact to save the world. But thanks, Alfie. I appreciate it."
Turning her eyes upward, Lexie was relieved to see that the rain, although it still falling outside, was no longer coming down in sheets, and now both she and her brother could talk in normal voices instead of having to yell over the wind. "Looks like the storm is passing," she noted with relief.
