Tears started flowing down Abby's cheeks again but this time it was because shew as glad. At least Carter was able to admit that he knew that it wasn't ideal to have a child right now. But she was glad that he wasn't mad at her for being pregnant. Abby shook her head when he asked if she wasn't happy. "I am happy. I'm just shocked. And scared."
She nodded when Carter reassured her that they were in it together and that he'd be there for her the whole time. Abby leaned in and kissed Carter again. When she pulled away from the kiss, she leaned her head against his and closed her eyes for a minute, taking a deep breath. When she opened her eyes, she was still looking down right at her stomach. Climbing out of Carter's lap, Abby made her way over to the mirror hanging in their room. A cracked, dusty reflection looked back at her and she turned to one side, staring at her body.
It didn't look like she was pregnant with the baggy shirt that she had on, that masked her stomach. But slowly Abby lifted the shirt and looked at her abdomen. There were scars from the when she had been stabbed all over her stomach. She couldn't tell how pregnant she was from just looking though. Was she just chubby? Was her stomach swollen from the wounds that were still healing? Or was it all just the baby? Abby poked her abdomen a few times and then ran a hand over it to make sure it really was there, slightly protruding. She figured she had to be at least three or four months pregnant, since she was hardly even showing anything and it could easily have been mistaken for mere weight gain. Then again, no one in Hellfire really looked like they had gained any weight in the last few years and Abby was no exception.
Abby looked over at Carter though and smiled before she put her shirt back down.
