Jack got up onto her knees and reached over to Josie, placing her hand on her arm. She couldn't say anything more about how Josie's parents were. For one, she didn't know, and two, there was nothing that she could say to fix that. She felt that some people just shouldn't have been parents, though it wasn't to say she wasn't happy to have Josie as a friend.
When Josie looked back at her from over her shoulder, Jack replied "And I know it's for that reason that you won't forget him because you care." She smiled supportively.
