Jack almost couldn't take it to hear what Josie was saying. Her eyes were starting to water up but to told herself to force back the tears. She let go of Josie's hand and brushed back the girl's hair before gently stroking her face. She let out a soothing shush to try and calm her down.
"Stop and listen to me." Jack tried to get directly in Josie's line of sight so she would pay attention. "What happened was not your fault. You couldn't have known what his state of mind was like, no one could." She shook her head, trying to shake off the tears, "And I know for a fact that isn't true. You have your parents that care about you, friends.. I would care. You're not alone, ok?" She continued to caress Josie's cheek sympathetically. "It wasn't your fault and you have to let him go."
